Hi, welcome to the South! 😊 I live in your same town. Maybe we'll run into each other at Costco since I seem to be there quite a bit! Haha. You ought to check out Treasures Lost and Found in Newnan. They have a lot of great items for your home.😊

Oh cool! Thanks for sharing Treasures Lost & Found. I'm going to check them out next trip to GA. Yeah, I try to stay away from Costco unless I'm needing paper towels and TP. Thanks for the warm welcome too! Maybe I will see you around and feel free to stop me if you see me around. I'd love to meet you! 🥰

It's so nice! Everything just shines. I can't wait to see how you make it your own for you and your family. I started with my porch too. Lol And our door has a lion head doorknocker similar to yours. Do you have a design plan/style for how you'll decorate? Your son driving the golf cart looked so fast! That looks fun 😅 What do the golf cart trails lead to? I lived in Georgia when I was in high school. We moved from Florida to Norcross with my mom's job. I lived there for a couple of years; it was one of my favorite places that I've lived. I learned to drive there. I hope you didn't have any damage from the hurricane and all is well.

Good morning! Thanks. This home is perfect as a second home. I really liked that the master bedroom was on the ground floor so I really don't need to go upstairs at all. In fact, I could probably count on two hands how many times I've been upstairs lol. And I also like the split staircase because if I ever do fall down the stairs, I won't have as many stairs to fall down. And also, if I ever bring the dogs here, they won't be tempted to dart down a ton of stairs. It's the little things that I worry about. This home checked all the boxes. It's on the verge of being too big as a second home so it's the perfect size. Plenty of space for guests. I love how you started with your front porch as well. We probably do that because it's the easiest and most impactful to make it our own. I am thinking of going with French provincial as my design style. French country-ish. Never in my life have I been interested in antiques-vintage stuff but here I am. In my next video I will share the treasures I found. I cannot complain with the chaos that I'm living in here as I make it a home. Because when I went without a kitchen sink at the condo, it was so inconvenient. And I know that you are dealing with the makeshift kitchen as you are making your new home, home. Do you have a sink in your laundry room at least? And it's a a good thing you're not having to go to the laundromat! There are over 100 golf cart paths here and they lead to anywhere you need to go. There's even golf cart parking at many businesses such as target and Kroger's. My youngest pretty much learned to drive here too, just a golf cart. And then my grandson got to drive when he was here a month ago. I am so happy that you loved living here when you did. Oh the memories! Funny how we always remember where we learn to drive and what we drove. Looking back on this video, I feel like I need to catch up on the yard! It looks worse than when I moved in! Even the front yard. I'm here for another two weeks so I need to make the most of my time. So glad that I got to produce two videos though because it's almost like a break from all the tasks I've been doing every day since I've been here. I've been putting together furniture and breaking down boxes every day. My bedroom set is the only furniture that came assembled. I know the people at the recycling center and they know me lol. The hurricane really didn't affect the house at all besides all the rain prior to the hurricane. Like six hours before the hurricane even got here it was pouring rain which I discovered I have a leak in my laundry room light fixture. I'm having the house sealed from pests, so I'm really hoping they see an opening somewhere of how water got in there. I responded to your comment on my condo video. I don't want you to miss it. I'm off to the recycling center and I'm hoping it's my last trip there. I keep telling myself to quit buying stuff for the house so I can get caught up and work outside. I bought several bags of bark for the front boxwood planters that go along the driveway but I don't think I'm going to be buying any more bark because I've read that pests love bark. I'm going to do pebbles. My son's school was cancelled because of the chemical fire east of Atlanta. First a hurricane, now a chemical fire...what's next. I hope you have a great, productive day. I'm going to try to have one too! Talk to you soon ❤

The master on the first floor was important/ a must for us too. Our upstairs is basically for my hobbies. Lol. My craft room and library live up there. I have to say one floor living is pretty great. I only go upstairs when I need to. What's your next project? I love that you're getting into antiques now. I'm trying to do that because our house is 200 yrs old (with a new addition) so modern seems out of place here. My old mid century modern furniture is now at my sister in laws house, because it just didn't work with our high ceilings. We just got an offer on our old house and we accepted, so we'll be able to get back on track getting things done. I'm so excited and relieved. That chemical fire sounded so crazy on the news.

Congratulations on receiving an offer on your house! That must feel so good! Wow, your new house is old! I can only imagine the character it has. They don't build new houses, unless they're custom, with a lot character. Like my new house, it's not very "interesting", so I have to get creative. I do love the high ceilings though! And the hard wood floors. Do you have any of the original floors in your home? I love it when people discover original floors under decades of linoleum or tile. I do wish I could sand down the floors here and stain it a cooler brown but I can also live with the color they are now. My next project?? Oh my gosh. I bought so much stuff to do little projects, like brass hardware for the bathrooms, two paint samples, and bags of bark for the front yard but I haven't started any of it yet. Right now, I am focusing on the front yard and the side yards. The backyard I will have to do some planning first. I'm thinking gravel paths and planting stuff in symmetry. I'd love a fountain, but I want it to be much more grand than what I have in LA. I bought some perineal ryegrass to overseed the front yard and that should be here Thursday. So I'd say a project that I am going to finish before I leave this time, will be the front and side yards. The inside has mostly been buying furniture, putting it together, and organizing drawers and closets. Just making the inside functional. I think the biggest challenge is being in the mood to get stuff done every single day. I'm sure you can relate. I haven't been upstairs to do anything besides put stuff in the bedrooms. I found some 1960s twin size maple beds on next-door. They're in great shape and the lady who sold them to me, she's 71 and those were her beds when she was little. I got them for 60 bucks! I figured I would put two twin size beds in one room and then a queen in the other. That way we have more sleeping options for guests. It really is perfect having the master bedroom on the first floor! Your hobby rooms upstairs is absolutely perfect. We are in the same season of life! It's exciting! I hope the committee approves you next week. I'm sure you're in a place where you could go either way; work or just work on your home full-time. Let it be fate! 😊 Well, I guess I will start on my gardening! I bought two Japanese maples and some shrubs yesterday. Oh, and a shovel! We have red clay type soil here. In LA we have like a sand type dirt. I am hoping to put out another video soon. I hope you have a great day! ❤

@NonnasCleanGetaway this house has tons of character. I believe the banister (the reason I feel is love with the house) and some of the floors are original. We found out our two story house was actually three stories when built in 1800. Which makes sense. The servants' quarters were probably on that level. When I took down wallpaper in my library, I found an outline for a doorway on an exterior wall. I think that was probably where the stairs to the 3rd floor were. The 3rd floor was lost to a fire, and a young woman died in that fire. The librarian showed us an article about something very interesting. During the Civil War, there was a tunnel from our house to a neighboring house. We don't know why, but it's documented that it existed. We both love history, so we're looking forward to finding out more about the history of our house. I can't wait to see how you spruce up your yard. You seem to work magic and have a great eye for the details. I wish I could be working outside today, but I will be clearing the garage at our old house. I hope you have great weather today and you enjoy your project. I can't wait to see the results.
