We are just finishing up Narnia series! We read them in the order C.S. Lewis wanted them read. I did read a good explanation of why you should read Magicians Nephew AFTER Lion Witch and the Wardrobe (it keeps that magic of that book intact while Magicians Nephew almost explains it too much and you lose that magic feel of wonder). We enjoyed the series! We will start our school year off with The Hobbit and a book study on that! Have a great year!

Would love to hear how you do assigned readers in your homeschool along with when during the day, etc? My son loves reading and reads a ton, so I'm hesitant to assign reading; although, I know it's super beneficial to assign certain books/genres. What is your timeframe of how long you give kids to read a certain book, etc? How many books do you give your kids throughout the year to read? Do they read as a part of their homeschool day or is it just on their own timeframe? Thanks! Your content is SO practical and helpful!!!

Thanks for sharing! I've been looking for ideas for read alouds for this upcoming year, so this is so helpful! And I loved hearing in another video your kids' ratings on books they've read. That's a great idea and I'm going to have my kids do that this year as well. Question:. Do you have your kids do book reports on all the books they read? Do you do book reports at all? If so, I'm curious how you have your kids do those. TIA!

Yea my 5th grader is an excellent reader 8th grade level but does not like to read? So I try and have her read at least something 20 min a day! This summer I’m also trying to have her read new books instead of books she’s already read! I love to read and read every night before bed and do it for fun. She likes being read to but if I don’t make her read she’ll never pick up a book!

Your choices look really fun. Love those missionary stories ;) have you read Holes? I'm not sure if I should give my boys Holes to read, it seemed like such a strange story to me. Trumpet of the Swan is such a nice book. We read it as a family and then my 4th grader reread it as a reader at the end of the last school year. So nice. Enjoy! We can't wait to start school on Monday, everybody is keen, as well as Mom. :) Blessings from a MAF missionary.
