I just think it's unfortunate. I can't say it any other way. Before the 2.0 update, everyone was getting so creative with the "few" items and I was so excited and eager to see what could be pulled out of 2.0 and instead the mods came.

I feel like I saw a huge surge of modding when content creators started jumping in on it as the game started to lose interest, and then when their videos got taken down on KZbin it sort of fizzled out. The risk didnt really seem feasible for the average player, although a lot of the modded items are beautiful.
@evie2411 Жыл бұрын
I feel like I saw most modding coming from acnh KZbinrs. And like you said, a lot of it feels like protest, but, it feels like there's more to it with them. It feels like they're resentful that they built this entire online identity around this one game, and Nintendo won't help them keep viewership with updates. So now, they're scrambling to figure out how to keep their Animal Crossing brand going, and modding gave them that umph. They're the ones who declare the game dead while it's still selling well and every-day people are very much still playing. It got exhausting and I've recently unfollowed a few people who I watched all during launch and lockdown. I also have to wonder what the developers know that we don't- like whether or not the game could run smoothly with more content and if they're waiting for the next console to present a more powerful game. It's definitely all complicated. For me, I don't have the patience or the willingness to risk loss of online privileges especially when other people use my Switch. It ain't happening. It's also disheartening to go online and see something really cool only to realize it's faked. But I never tell people off or force them to play how I want them to. That'd be a bit much.

Honestly i would blame the modders for doing so. Acnl modding was a big thing back then aswell and i think its a nice way of adding new content that the old game is missing. Ofc there are the risks and everything that you should keep in mind. I think one day i'll just use an emulator and mod my game there, did the same with acnl and many other games so im looking forward to it :D (and before you hate on me, i bought every single one of the games i emulated lol)
@Sofisasam Жыл бұрын
honestly i think a lot of people dont know that modding is a huge HUGE part of pc games. The freedom to add content however you like or change certain things is the reason why games like skyrim, stardew, isaac, terraria and many more even manage to live such a long life. Some games even have mod launcher INGAME. Its sad that consoles are so restricted and thats the reason im barely playing on them anymore

I agree with about the modding issue. I don’t like seeing images on twitter of the game where I can’t get them without modding my switch. There is so much to do in this game. Love designing and achieving the goals I have set out for myself in the game. Great video

I'm not anti-mod. I play with mods in the Sims and enjoy the game more because of them. I don't see the ACNH mods adding enough that I would risk breaking my Switch to play with them. They just add new colors or different items and it's not worth it to me. I don't care what other people do with their islands though.

Nice video Ryan. I am not a fan of modding either. And for Animal Crossing New Horizons, apples is the only fruit left that I need for my island. But every single time I tried to find apples, whether with Kaptin' (however it's spelled) or flying to mystery islands with Nook Miles Tickets; I've always been unsuccessful in finding Apples. I just don't know if I can find them!
@amytheshihtzumom Жыл бұрын
That’s me but with cherries. I think you can only get all the fruits by trading with other players or using a treasure island, I think they’re called.
@dannyphantomfan1356 Жыл бұрын
@@amytheshihtzumom One of my friends, who has Animal Crossing New Horizons also, got me oranges and pears for my island and I brought her cherries and Peaches. The both of us need Apples for our islands; but are unsuccessful at finding them. With each island, both treasure and mystery, we haven't found apples at all. Do you have apples on your island?

While I agree with the general fanbase that it would be nice with more dialogues etc with the villagers, the fact that most people complain about how much freedom they have in this game compared to previous installments is just another fact that most humans NEED guidance, they cannot live under pure freedom.

I won't mod because I don't want to loose my Nintendo account/ break my switch by accident. There's also a reason why I don't trust treasure islands that are modded because they might ruin my switch

"how do you feel about modding?" my perspective: nobody should care. if you have the programming and art knowhow to do it, and you bought the game yourself, you should be able to play it however you want, modding or otherwise. i really don't think it's that big a deal. nintendo may be annoyed and thats fine, its their product; if someone is willing to pay for mods with their nintendo online account: W h o c a r e s . i guess what im saying is that this is an issue between nintendo and the player in question; it shouldnt be an issue between other players. it seriously affects absolutely nothing, and there's actual issues in the world to worry about.
@dremckenna8570 Жыл бұрын
normally, i'd say "i know there are other issues to worry about; i can multitask" but the thing is, this isn't even an issue at all. new horizons is, as RyanFTW said, an island designing game, which means its a creativity game for the purposes of self-expression, and the cool thing is, since everyone is different, self-expressions are similarly unique and will look different for everybody! some people like to experiment with what they already have, and others like to put in the work to gain access to more tools; its all completely okay. its a game: the point is to have fun.

• I think the problem is that acnh is so open ended. Like you say it’s an island designer. I agree with that. But even that is open ended.. like you are fine with what you are given. So am I. • But I can see why some people want more stuff to work with and the ease of placing items like in happy home paradise. As an island designer I almost see it as a scaled model similar to train or landscape models but in digital form. • I think what’s unfair is modding on different planes like being able to work on a different level. Like a tree that’s under the feet of the plane that the character walks on.. like messing with physics of the game. 😅 whew

5:38 honestly I‘m surprised that people are shocked that Nintendo won’t update acnh anymore? Nintendo is a company and as such, nothing matters more than profit. And they have already made PLENTY of profit with acnh, so why update it further? The reason why pocket camp keeps getting updated is because it includes mikro-transactions, therefore more money. I thought this was pretty obvious. The big game companies don’t really care about the games they’re making, they only care whether people will buy it. This is why I prefer indie game devs over big companies because with indie game devs (such as concernedape) you can tell they care about the game they’re making first, everything else comes Second
