If you are going to do that, add a battery for your home that also charges overnight to use during the more expensive daytime tariff. Why is boot space practicality in terms of carry on suitcases, not proper full sized suitcases? Same with hire cars, arriving to find the boot absolutely cannot hold the cases you have! Most families travel with full sized cases, which suddenly becomes a problem in many cars.
@amperformance79983 ай бұрын
I took my family (2 adults, 2 teens) on a 2 week road trip and the boot space was sufficient for all our luggage and a full size spare wheel. I think the reason they use carry-on size bags for comparisons is because a smaller unit allows for more differentiation between models.
@lmaoroflcopter2 күн бұрын
What dimensions are a full size suitcase? Airlines usually specify a weight limit for checked baggage. I have a huge suitcase, a large suitcase that fits inside the huge one, a medium one that's inside of that and a small one inside of that, plus a cabin sized one. All of them have been used (aside from the cabin sized one) as checked luggage. Given cabin sized suitcases are of a certain size (within a few cm). That probably explains why they use cabin suitcases. You can given the size of cabin suitcases is known within a few cm, come to your own conclusion to see if your particular full size suitcase will fit.

@amperformance79983 ай бұрын
@@peterscott2662 I don't currently live in a snowy region, but I spent 30 years in northern Minnesota so I know what driving in snow is like. Because of the size and angle of the rear window, all but the lightest dusting of snow would overwhelm a rear wiper. Light snow is easy enough to wipe off or you just let it blow off as you drive. Heavy or icy snow would be too much for the wiper so you'd have to brush or scrape it anyway. As for road spray in the winter, we do get heavy rain and have dirty roads where I live and the aero does a really good job of keeping spray off the rear window. In 2 years of ownership, driving in rain, on dirt, behind trucks, I have never needed to clean the rear window. It is more like a sedan than a hatch in that regard and nobody complains that a sedan hasn't got a rear wiper. I really like the Ioniq 5, it was my original choice, and there are many good reasons to choose the 5 over the EV6. But choosing it just for the rear wiper is a little silly.

Kia/Hyundai have been having 12V issues since the original Ioniq EV and PHEVs. Mine has been boosted 8 times in 3 years by the roadside people. I ended up buying a little 5w solar panel and put it up in the window when parked so it keeps the battery topped up a bit and the voltage high enough to start the vehicle and get the DC-DC conversion going from the traction battery. Another option is just to leave the vehicle running while charging which keeps the 12V battery charging, but remember to unplug near 100 or very quickly because my Ioniq will switch to accessory mode the moment it's done charging and drain the 12V again even though it's plugged in.

If you are on a trip, you might have to stop once when the battery has dropped to 10%, and just add 15% (which only takes a couple of minutes) to reach your destination. At the destination you can then leave to charge for a longer time for the return trip. Even if you have to charge it for 18 minutes, then you already have long ride behind you and can well have a rest and/or a snack. 18 minutes passes by really fast at a stop with a break.

You know if you time yourself at the pump, it usually takes between five and ten minutes to fuel up an ICE. Do stop

@@ralalbatross yeah and the amount of fuel I get takes me a lot further than 200 plus miles....what's your point?

I think it looks amazing; the only thing I dion’t like, and it was the same in the previous version, is the driver and passenger headrests! They’re so ugly looking!! The EV6 would look so much better with sports seats!

the ev6 is funnier to drive than a Tesla , inside is actually sexier

never really got on with the styling of the EV6...much happier with its cousin the ioniq 5

How does it charge on 400V chargers such as V3's? Does it still do it by the idiotic idea of using the rear motor? Basically regening?
@amperformance79983 ай бұрын
The idiotic idea was Tesla making their chargers 400v only. Kia created a very clever solution to compensate for Tesla’s shortcomings.

That is not a big car. Model y is a small cuv in America. Chevy suburban is a big suv

i doubted. The iccu is often grilled. Just 30.000 km and it blows off. So far Korea has no solution. For Owners its a desaster.

I'd assume the ICCU issue is resolved for the facelift. Or have you heard any complaints regarding this new 2025 model?
@susihormon782113 күн бұрын
@@bjondersson If they use the old parts again, why should it behave different? New part numbers in the facelift? In swizz there is a related crash happened. Hope that it will force Korea to bring a solution with a lifespan of 1.000.000 km.

@ I don’t know the part numbers. I said I’d assume. Do you know the part numbers of both?
@stevep41319 күн бұрын
@@bjondersson Unless Kia specifically state that the ICCU has been updated in the 2025 model then isn't it safer to assume they haven't changed it and that the problems may still exist? (Trouble is they might fix the problem in their latest model but not want to mention it for fear of underlining the problem in the used market.) You'd think a serious and independent review of a new model would look into this issue..............
@bjondersson7 күн бұрын
@@stevep4131 Looks like my earlier comment got deleted for linking to Kia's press release. The pre-facelift model has ICCU part number 364011XFB0 and facelift has 364011XFB5. The part numbers were read via OBD.
