I'm affected by this. Is it normal ? I live miles away from NJ, but I am also a hockey fan. I hated when he played against my favorite team, but I feel this loss as if it were a family member that passed away. Maybe because he seemed like a genuine good guy.

Well, I always hated the New York Yankees, but I was upset when Thurman Munson tragically died in 1979.

@Methequeen right. My heart goes out to their wives, and the younger brother was expecting his first baby. Johnny's children are so little. I'm so heartbroken by this news. People really need to get an Uber or stay home!

One might think the Governor of New Jersey would use his position as an elected official to condemn the habit of many to drink and drive instead of 'celebrating their lives'. Sadly, he said nothing. There is nothing to celebrate here and it's silently accepted by apparently all elected officials that drinking and driving is OK.
