10:45 imagine knowing bts as the hiphop kids who are at the same time very adorkable when not working or on their random bangtan bombs back in the day.. then this dropped?? my jaw was on the floor! i think i cried a lot that time coz i never expected them to exceed my expectations every comeback! this album ugh was very monumental. i can still feel how overwhelmed i was on my first listen of this album (downloaded mp3s back then HAHAHA HELLO) but yeah they literally evolved in every aspect! mvs, sound, production... my goodness! i just love watching reactions of ppl going back to older albums ♡

This was wonderful album, it showed how incredibly talented these boys were. The albums just keep getting better. They always have at least one song per album that has such a fun performance for ARMY and Boys with Fun is the one from this album, such a blast to watch them sing it live.

“Love is not over” (the outro) was the first song jk both wrote and produced for bts :) before this he mainly did chorus, lyrics and melodies, which he still does, but this was the first production by him. Big milestone in an album that was a big milestone in general for all of them

From their debut BTS went through peaks and valleys of uncertainty . With I Need You they changed their concept of tough hip-hop group to a much softer sound and look and it worked! They got their first win at a SK music show, which is a must if a group is going to stay alive in the industry. So this song was a significant turning point for BTS. Jin still credits it as the start of their rise.

I love this whole album series! From what I understand, the scene in I Need U where V stabs his abusive father was actually extra shocking because of Korean culture and the heavy emphasis they place on age hierarchy. Seeing the father abuse the daughter would be almost normal, but for V playing the role of the son to turn that abuse around against someone older and his FATHER no less, that's why the MV was heavily age restricted and I believe that's why they also released another version of the MV with that scene removed. I think turning that violence around was the point though, since this MV and this whole era of albums really, was about the struggles of youth and the sort of issues that plague them. Also, BTS did have a skit on BE, the last album they released as a group (not counting their anthology album Proof), so I don't think it's something they've left entirely behind!

I relisten to this album from time to time because every single songs is just right for me when I feel a certain kind of way. But if I say about a song from the album that I listen the most, I would say it's "Fun Boys" (or Boyz with Fun). This song just puts you in a good mood from the very start and I appreciate that.

Now that you have reached the Bantan Universe (BU) STOP READING THE COMMENTS! ARMY is good hearted and enthusiastic but they will over share and spoil the BU because figuring out what the hell is going on (like how we did when we only got pieces of the puzzle at a time instead of the whole picture at the end) this was half the fun of the BU. For your question about the skits they don't do it as often anymore but there was a skit in their BE album in 2020. "Converse High" was written by Namjoon because his ideal girl wears a white t-shirt, jeans and red converse. He wanted to share that so had the boys sing it with him, most thought it was funny but Suga doesn't like converse hence his lines. "Moving On" was literally about them moving out of their first dorm into a slightly bigger place together and all the memories they shared there.

Actingwise, I watched the i need you mv first and I think I teared up when Jimin was shaking sitting next to the bath tub. The vulnerability in his eyes just shook something deep inside me. And then I full on started bawling when he submerged himself into water. I didn’t even know the storyline then but seeing the pattern in the story it wasnt hard to identify the intent of that scene. Jimin and Tae’s acting performance in this video will always take it home for me. There are other videos in which this story continues and each of the boys get their shining moments actingwise in each of them. In this one jimin and Tae caught my eye. In Run, yoongi, JK and Jin and so on for others throughout the other BU mvs. The music obviously is just perfect. I love the vulnerability communicated by the lyrics. Storytelling through lyrics comes naturally to BTS because of excellent songwriters in the group. In this video and song they are just trying to tell a story which highlights the trials and tribulations of young adults and I think graphic or not, they were successful in that. BTS constantly push boundaries of what’s acceptable in the industry etc and I think I disagree with your impression about them being image conscious. They’re cautious because polite and humble and ofcourse they don’t want to cause unnecessary sensation or stir about some careless words or displays and modesty is a part of their culture but those boys do what they want. The were and are one 100% rebels to this date. I feel they just don’t conform to standards and practices they find obsolete or pointless or excessive and have displayed willingness to stick to their stances with temerity. There were around 30 trainees in total, coming and going, around 10-11 trainees at any given moment. There are a couple of videos about a couple of these ex-trainees. One where two of them were interviewed, one where one of them as the subject of the episode. All three shared positive memories about their trainee days and about the members. All three have no regrets about not making the group, saying the seven really deserve to be in the team and only they can make it this big.
