Klim’s website says CE Level 1 too... the armor I pulled out was CE Level 2 armor. My production suit will arrive at the end of this week & I’ll double check. As Klim & Revzilla day Level 1 - my bet is there. No room / provisions for chest protection. Thanks for watching. - Kyle

Hey Kyle...How well does the combo of both work in cold weather? Would you have to change to a thicker warmer setup?

I am on my second year wearing this suit. The Enduro S4 over the Baja S4 I find to be warmer and more versatile than my Carlsbad or Badlands. The mesh jacket under the outer shell acts like foam between dual pane windows... Pretty great insulator. Take a lot of time for the cold air to get from the shell to my core. Pretty rad set-up. I have actually ditched the Endruo S4 as it is bigger and bulkier than I like... and went with a basic rain jacket / pant instead. Packs smaller and has the same benefits. How would it fare on the street? You compare it to a fully-meshed-out-Badlands in the video ... is that accurate for a street application, or would you mostly keep it on the dirt? Thanks!

@@manybikes Sweet can't wait to see it, I'm revamping all my gear this year, I retire from mil in just over a year and will be doing a round the nation several month trip once I do. I'm shooting for a minimal layering system that focuses on mesh. I'm gonna use a Baja S4 jacket and Carlsbad pants so I don't need a rain pant. That hopefully means the only other layers I will need will be an Enduro S4 for rain/wind block "hopefully will fit in Baja back pocket", an inferno for mid layer, some long underwear, and probably a puffy synthetic for off the bike. And since the baja s4 has hydration I don't need a backpack which is a plus for long days.

Kyle - Do you think a windshield will inhibit the suit? Like on a new Goldwing or GS 1600. For such bikes should I look to a different solution?

No, you will be cooler in this - or any full vented suit - than you will in a non-vented / mesh suit. That’s for sure... windshield or not!

So why would one go with the Baja instead of the Induction if they’re both mesh and “always open?” Any reason why either one is superior?

Yes, they feel very different. I am not a big fan of the mesh used on the Induction myself... This Baja S4 feels MUCH better. The fit of the S4 jacket is much more to my liking too. The S4 has more pockets and I like the layout of the reflective strips too. I'd say... Try it on and choose what is best for your needs! -- Kyle

I ride the new carlsbad since i start the saison 2020 in april... and i juste buy Baja S4 the 1 june for use to day trip when it is hot... i love bolt the Carlsbad and Baja s4.... baja s4 very cool to have when it is hot 👍 feel free and protect 👍👍👍

Hey, great channel! I live here in south Florida. And pretty much hot 60 percent, 30 percent pouring rain, 10 percent cold year round. I was looking at getting the KLIM Kodak suit for a year or so, then I watch your KLIM Carlsbad suit video and really liked that but now you show this video and I’m stuck! Thanks! But for real which of the 3 did you like? I looked for a video on the kodiak and didn’t see one.

The Kodiak is a Badlands with Apex Jacket "edges"... less ADV and more Touring. For your riding, I would suggest you go with the Baja S4 for the 60% and get a set of Frogg Toggs (cheap way to get Enduro S4 functionality)... then you will be dialed! My favorite GoreTex Klim jacket is actually the Apex Jacket due to it's GoreTex Pro shell and MASSIVE vents! Coolest GoreTex jacket I have ever worn. That being said, my Baja S4 is on order - and will wear the heck out of it this year. Game changer for HOT weather riding! 100% Vented, now that is what I am talking about. Also I’m looking for a great suit. I wear a old dainese mesh suit 60 percent of the year but it’s more race oriented, and I was looking a the Baja to replace it. I don’t know how it is there but it hot and humid here most of the year around and was wondering about breathability.

christian land Ha! Ha! I am a bit of a Klim expert if you will... the Baja S4 is a fully free flowing vented mesh suit. There is no way to “close the mesh” for warmth or water protection. Yes, all of the videos i have made on the Chaparral Motorsports channel are all of the new products from Klim. The Apex is still a current jacket - and is my favorite all around waterproof on the exterior impact protective and vented jacket. For most is the summer hot months here - I will wear the Baja S4 this year. Last year I wore the Merekesh gear. It was great, but a little “lightweight” for my riding style. The Baja S4 is pretty amazing.

@@manybikes Have the Baja S4 jacket on the way for now. Got tired of the Large Tusk Pannier boxes so now have some Giant Loop Mototrek bags on the way. Really happy with this tire combo on the 1090R, TKC80 front and Motoz Tractionator Adventure rear. Working fantastic. Have a Garmin Zumo 396 on the way today. Everything has to be installed today. Leaving in the morning for work in Wisconsin, over Memorial day weekend I have the Northern Wisconsin Adventure Trail mapped out. 940 miles of dirt loop to Lake Superior and back.

Another... possibly better... way to ask my question... Let's say you are setting out to ride the Continental Divide Trail. You know you are going to see a WIDE range of weather during the ride, wind, sun, rain, hot, cold... Would you leave home wearing the Carlsbad? Or would you leave home wearing the Baja S4 with the Enduro S4 in your roll top bag?

Yes, they make amazing gear. Very Patagonia or North Face of the Moto space. Very "type of ride" or location specific... Expensive but it WORKS. Can't argue with that. Warm when it's cold. Cool when it's hot and Dry when it's wet. Ok... Sold.
