I've been inside a mascot suit at a parade high-fiving people of all ages before, and those things are at times hard to see in, you can mostly and only see straight in front of you, barely up, down, and side by side. At 1st I thought that the mascot couldn't see the children, than the 2nd video made it very clear that he/she stood right in front of the two girls and directly brushed them off. Yeah, they are doing it on purpose, for whatever reason, I guess we'll find out.

I think those girls were a bit out of bounds. Notice how they seem to be the only kids almost in the middle of the street. Mascot didn't want to say hello to probably avoid more kids on the street as it's a parade and there's a huge vehicle on the back.

@@stealth1077 yup. That wasn’t my up bringing, I grew up in white/Asian suburbia and never saw black people until I turned 18 and decided to move. Met my husband, learned a whole lot from him, he grew up poor, in oak cliff texas. Had a hard life. I’ve seen people treat him differently or harass him first hand because of his skin color, it breaks my heart. I never knew that racism was still a huge issue until I left my bubble. You tend to know what you see, so a lot of people in my up bringing are terribly ignorant to these things, because it doesn’t happen to us and we don’t see it happen to others because we don’t know people from different backgrounds and ethnicities like that. I think that’s why there’s such a huge disconnect between a lot of rich white or Asian people and the struggles of black and Hispanic people. Colorism is a huge issue especially in black communities, I think it’s caused by self loathing that’s shown up over time because of all of the hate the rest of society has put on them. Mixed people also have a bad experience, they’re objectified but also not generally accepted as a black person or as a white person, even though they’re both, and still face discrimination. We live in a very gross and discriminatory society. I worry about my children as I know they’re gonna run into those issues being mixed. Anyone can be racist towards any group. And all forms of racism from any person or group, needs to be dealt with.
@stealth1077

@@thatstrangebuggirl4150 I have never been treated differently from white people. I do believe that Latinos have a less difficult time mixing with other cultures. I personally have not dealt with racism from whites or Asians, mainly Hispanics and blacks. I believe the black community will continue this circle until race gets blurred by all the interracial relationships. At least in the US the crime rate is statistically showing black individuals are committing more crimes. This is because of how far back they are financially because of slavery and racism that other groups find it easier to discriminate against black people. Hopefully one day we can get past color.

I have a 3 year old African American girl and even I started watching this thinking this is silly, they just probably didn't see the little girl but the more I watched the more I realized wow, this is a pattern. It seems as if they either specifically train them to behave in this racist manner or they hire staff that is specifically racist. Hate is normal and is a natural human emotion. We all hate thieves and liars and people who litter and people who cut you off driving etc but to hate people simply because of the color of their skin, people who have done absolutely nothing to you is evil. Well when you are spoon fed the narrative that the only thing that matters about you is your race, you will see racism everywhere. Normal people don't think that way, they have actual lives to lead, jobs to go to, families to support. I'm sure you are only allowed to see about 3 seconds of the mascots for a reason, they probably ignored lots of kids, they have to keep that parade moving, not to mention you can barely see in those costumes. Of course they will now be told to interact with every single black kid but are free to ignore the white kids, and for some reason that is fine in today's world.

Same energy wasted hurting the little kids that it would have taken to just make their day quick. When you take that job, you know what you are getting into. It is dumb to sue over something like that, for sure. And yes, people are too sensitive these days. But, people are also aholes when they don't have to be, in a setting they shouldn't be, in this case. Not everything has to be a news story, though. People don’t understand how that those “small” actions can destroy the confidence and take away the love that children should feel. If you want to stop bad behavior hit people where they will feel it. Money is the thing that speaks volumes when it comes to companies and corporations. Sesame Street has always been an including movement and if these companies want to license from them, it better not be just about the money. Sesame Street has always been my rainbow and theses companies are tarnishing a beautiful rainbow of love. They should not be allowed to buy a license if they do not embody what Sesame Street is and means for many.

@Bo Bo Bo I could be reading your comment as sarcastic, if you are not being sarcastic, I wish you well and hope that therapy will help you make the transition. But the things that stick with us for the rest of our lives are things that happen when you are between 1 and 10 possibly up to 12. Childhood trauma for better or worse shape people. It makes some people serial killers, some people overachievers who block their trauma until they are old enough to handle it, good parents, bad parents and yes, something like being in a county that has and still does lynch/shoot/torture/murder, hurt in what ever form that makes their mentally warped minds happy, simply because the color of your skin is brown to deep brown or black. Imagine spending your life helping others trying to make the world a better place and some out of state @$$hole doesn’t like that you were served before him in a restaurant and because he hates Black people but knows absolutely nothing about you later decides to run you off the road and kill you? It’s not just the pain of being a good child who is rejected by her childhood idol, it is also about teaching people not to hate people simply because of their skin color, because today it is shaking your head and hands no at little Black children, later it turns into running somebody off of a cliff because no one has told you that your behavior is unacceptable. If people think it’s not a big deal, stop and think about Hitler and his extermination of as many people who were Jewish as possible. Think about Native Americans being called “savages” and thought that gave them permission to slaughter every Native American they could because Native Americans felt that they were more one with nature, it made them “savages” - pure lack of respect for other people and how they live their lives. Despite the fact that their connection to nature did not take anything away from their lives and the mass, mass, mass, mass amounts of land that is in the North American continent. And most currently Slavery, Black people were treated as chattel, husbands taken away from their families, children sold off away from their parents, “breeding” more slaves. We are human beings just like everyone else and if you start disrespecting little innocent children, you do not see us as people. So, I used to be against suing people but growing up getting degrees in business you learn, if you want to change a behavior in a Capitalist society, you need to use a penalty that effects real change, and that is bankrupting companies who feel that hate, racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia or whatever other issues they have that devalues another persons life and rights.

@@angelanelson5113 We can go in circles about what Sesame Street should represent and how it should reflect it in their services, as well as how these theme parks should operate in general when it comes to "inclusion", but the bottom line is there has yet to be any convincing evidence presented this was in fact racism. There's no evidence these kids were intentionally ignored or that this happens regularly to children "of color", let alone that the motives were due to racism. All I'm seeing is two instances of kids not being waved at in video clips that are under 5 seconds long, a pathetic-looking parent making sad faces for the camera and money-hungry lawyers engaging in self-righteous grandstanding. Furthermore, the only way these kids are going to suffer any actual trauma is if their parents convince them to be traumatized, which I'm sure they are doing.

Gesturing no to the two little girls doesn't mean racism because right before that she shook her finger at a guy as a "no-no" so the character was in a "no-no" train of thought and it's not necessarily a racist reaction to the two girls immediately following that, but more a "no, this I've had enough". This is Bullshit. Them kids weren't racially profiled. I'm black as shaka Zulu. And my kids are too. Sesame was there first job. They worked there 3years and were close friends with everyone. This is a money grab at children's expense. You should feel bad for the person in that costume in 90° weather if someone makes a mistake by acknowledging a child best believe it's probably that hot ass costume and not the fact that that child is black white green or purple. This is a shame is what it is.

I know that Jim Henson is watching this from Heaven and is in stunned disbelief to see how an organization that he had created with various other talented artists and performers be tarnished this way. The whole purpose of Sesame Street was to teach about caring, sharing and diversity and most important equality and to watch this saddens the heart. The performers that did this owns the Henson Family and those families an apology and needs to be fired, immediately. And Sesame Street owes the family's not only free passes but also a public apology and financial compensation, for hurting their children and should also apologize to the Henson family.

Wokeness has only made the r@cial divide worse. Telling bleeps they are oppressed and hated by wytes (when 99% of the time they aren't) only gives them a martyr complex and encourages bad behavior. Bleeps have a terrible reputation for poor public behavior: yelling at or assaulting clerks and attendants for the merest perceived slights, and much, much worse in the realm of outright crim1nal behavior and h@te crimes against ytes, J*ws and As1ns. The workers at these theme parks are usually working-class people who really know how bleeps behave and will respond accordingly. This isn't r@cism, it's pattern recognition.

Where are the full encounters? Those clips do not clarify whether those little girls were actually ignored or whether an act of racism was actually committed. We are only shown a brief moment of what occurred after the characters had already walked past those children. So, it looks like the characters didn't/couldn't see them, but we are led to believe that they snubbed them out of racism. Why not show us the clips in full or a long enough video of one parade, so we can discern for ourselves if only black children are getting snubbed by particular characters? Even if one character legitimately snubs one black child, that doesn't mean he or she in the character costume is racist. All this just seems like another ploy to keep racism on the forefront of everyone's minds. The media wants us all divided and thinking that racism is more prevalent than it really is.

What don't you get about this situation? Rather than give a high-five- the character ACTUALLY GESTURED AN EMPHATIC NO! He could have just as easily have granted the child's request with less energy. This isn't an NBA game with adults, these are children. It is just good ethics; if you despise other races OR KIDS, then DO NOT WORK IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR, AND ESPECIALLY NOT WITH KIDS. This isn't a case of "victimology" either- which isn't particularly played according to the black race; KAREN'S and KEVIN'S have shown us that! If you don't see that these children are actually being SNUBBED- it's because you don't WANT to see it. You are part of the problem.
