Scary episode & New Londo can be confusing , but unfortunately there is a key item you have missed so will have to head back in there!!! The big fog door at 34:36 is a large room and there is a upper section to it. Up there is a large ember which will enable you to upgrade your weapon passed +10 all the way to +15 so this is an essential item. Just take your time when down there, don't panic, & take everyone out slowly & one at a time - it's not so bad. But I would head to the lower Quelaag area next as can farm for an item that will help illuminate the catacombs for you - keep on keeping on

those ghosts actually drop transient curses fairly often when u kill them. in the initial release of ds 1 it was really hard to come by but they put out a patch so u can buy it and also increase drop rate.

Darkwraiths (guyss with the swords) in New Londo are the best source of Titanite Chunks and if you're lucky, they might even drop a Slab. It's a good idea to farm them a little, after you get the Ember that allows weapon upgrade to +15. Just pop a Humanity first, to boost the drop chance.

symbol of avarice will net you almost 1500 souls per kill (more if you can parry for the overkill bonus) making them a very efficient soul farm while you’re at it. gold serpent ring doesn’t stack with SoA so better to use silver for this method (netting somewhere around 1800 per kill x 10 darkwraiths per run). I did this to farm up enough to get several weapons up to +14. slab drops are very rare, i only saw a couple in my many hours of attempts. three are already available in the base game (stray demon, kalameet’s arena, and seigmeyer’s questline) so i would definitely recommend getting them before trying to farm for it because it can be very time consuming. if you are gonna go for it, pop ten humanity for max discovery and make sure to be human.

I’ve gotten multiple Titanite Slabs before and get ecstatic every time. Some runs I’ll be farming chunks to get to +14 and then kill the Stray Demon for the slab. Well one run I got the perfect amount of chunks multiple ones from Darkwraiths and then one also drops a slab and let’s me perfectly ascend to +15 without even killing Stray Demon. I was freaking out! I did all this before even fighting the gargoyles too 😅

The knight you fought was the chap who used to be above in the firelink shrine. He'd just gone hollow and lost his mind. Also, instead of buying Transient Curse, you could just go to The Depths & get cursed by the basilisks.

Lower New Londo Ruins were flooded before you used the Key to the Seal. That opened the door leading to Valley of the Drakes (which is where the water drained to), so it would have been closed before that point, even if you'd found it from the Valley side. Another alternate route to the lower area once you'd opened that door would have been the other lift to the right when you first enter New Londo from Firelink; it would have been a longer jaunt past the other entrance to Blighttown and those drakes, but it's an option. 😵‍💫 No other FromSoft world interconnects like Dark Souls does. You did a great job either way; Four Kings are no joke. 👏

New Londo has to be the most eerie area in the game for me. After releasing the water, and seeing all the soggy corpses of all of the previous inhabitants, it really drives home the feeling of being alone and arriving to the “party” late. Almost like wandering around an empty stadium after a big game, but much more dreadful. Wandering down here early into my first playthru while exploring Firelink was very eerie, i never wouldve expected there to be the most dread inducing area in the game right below the comfort of Firelink💀.

Nice work systematically making your way through New Londo. That place is confusing as hell, especially since it doesn't have a bonfire to help you get your bearings. As another commenter already mentioned, that hollow NPC you killed at the ruins entrance was the Crestfallen Knight you noticed missing from Firelink. Frampt's snoring and breath drove him to find somewhere else to live and he went hollow in the pursuit. Anyway, best of luck wherever you go next - both places have, uh, unique challenges.

Seath(dead), the four kings(dead), Boss in Tomb of giants below catacombs, and Fire area boss behind quelaag's boss room are the 4 LORD SOULs needed to unlock final boss(feed to lord vessel). Edit : you can just jump down the snake man's hole so you don't have to wait for him to wake up. There's a big tree in the swamp with 2 secret walls inside it.

That guy who attacked you down there was the crestfallen warrior. The first person you spoke to when you arrived at Firelink shrine. But I don't think you spoke to him again much so you probably missed his little story arc of getting more and more negative until he finally got so annoyed by the giant snake that he decided he would leave. And that's what he did, he left and went hollow. There are quite a few side stories in the game but they are easy to miss if you don't pay much attention to NPCs.😉

Hi Emma! You did well! Been a blast seeing you still get that typical Fromsoft-anxiety from this game even though you've beaten its evolved forms already ;) (This game truly isn't THAT hard, if you've noticed, the average enemy or even boss attack does way less damage than in later iterations. It's mostly the mechanics that are obtuse and a bit clunky.) Quelaag->Demon Ruins and Catacombs->??? are good places to explore next - but FYI, there's still something big and really cool to discover in Ol' Blighty. Once you find it, keep going. And then -no you're not done- keep going. And keep going. You'll know it when you see it. Oh, and since the holidays are coming up, wouldn't it be nice to get back to your place of origin for some reunions? Someone at the Asylum might get empty ...nest... syndrome or something. X

Great job on the four kings! You seemed pretty stressed out this episode when you got lost in New Londo. Its a confusing area but even more so when you are sprinting! I know it can be tedious, but taking your time to kill the enemies on by one and explore the area thoroughly on your first time through genuinely is much easier and less stressful in my experience. That way, when you run through to the boss or wherever later on, you know exactly where you are going :)

Great episode, I was thinking you were dpsing too slow on the four+ kings and would get mobbed. But you really pulled through! I love how you completely owned the first few dark wraiths and THEN you got scared and started running from them 😆 Approaching the end of the game you need to start considering what you want to do about DLC and optional areas. The major optional areas remaining are: 1.) The DLC 2.) The Painted World 3.) Ash Lake You won't find any of them by progressing at this point so if you want them as part of your playthrough you'll have look up how to reach them. In DS1 you can't do any optional content post-game so before the final boss is the deadline (but you can do them at any point you like, they are at a similar difficulty level to what you'll be fighting either way).

It was really fun to see you work all of this out 😊 To give an unrelated example, Remember the big Ogres from the swamp in blight town, the ones who throw big balls at ye? That's the balls from Sen's Fortress. It's all connected but the routes that are layed out make that hard to see. We don't follow the routes those balls take but you can sort of see it from firelink shrine, from where you can almost see blighttown down below and reconstruct Sen's Fortress high up.

12:43 I missed this bit of Anastacia's dialogue for the LONGEST time because I'd always collect all the lord souls before turning them in to the Lordvessel at the same time at the very end -- it happens after turning in a single lord soul and speaking to her, and she would have kindled the Firelink bonfire to 20 for you at that point even without the Rite of Kindling. 🙃

Congrats on beating the Four (or Five) Kings! It's a bit of a DPS check really, a new one spawns in every 40 seconds or so until the health bar is gone. The Godskin Duo fight is a bit like this, but not exactly the same. Like the Godskin Duo fight they still have a hitbox in their death animation so you can keep hitting them for some bonus damage. If you're really overpowered (like a crazy mage build or something) you can end up fighting only two or three kings as a result. Also the Four Kings are the only lord soul dropping boss you can fight before you get the Lordvessel, and something happens in the game if you do that. New Londo is a rough area, no bonfires down there at all, and the run to the boss is pretty brutal. The ghosts do drop the Transient Curse items pretty frequently though so you generally can get through OK without running out of them, or you can just run past like you ended up doing which is honestly what I do most of the time. You wouldn't have been able to get to New Londo from Valley of Drakes, you can only open the door from the New Londo side. There's not a lot that you missed in New Londo but there is something significant and worth looking for near the big blob thing. To get to Blighttown the best way is down the lift from Firelink, then there's a gate near the bottom of the lift that takes you to Valley of Drakes. There's a small bridge near the start that takes you in to the cave at the top of Blighttown. If you play the game again and choose the master key you can get there really early and there's good stuff to grab at the bottom of Blighttown, as long as you remember to take a homeward bone down there and don't rest! Getting back out from the bottom at low level can be really painful. Looking forward to the next one, enjoy Demon Ruins!

I honestly thought you would have a harder time with the 4 kings but you did pretty good. However, let me give you some advice before you move on. I would personally recommend that you go to the demon ruins first before going to the next area in the catacombs. Go to the demon ruins and really take your time to explore the branching areas in that place. There is a specific item you can get for killing a certain enemy that emits a great source of light that will help you A LOT for the dark area you saw after the catacombs. Trust me. If you thought that New Londo was hard to navigate then the next area in the catacombs is FAR worse if you don't have a light source. Hope you read this and good luck. You were a bit too fast this episode which is why you found it hard to navigate the area. Next time try going for a slower approach and you should be fine. Slow and steady is always the way to go in dark souls if you want to be safe.

On repeat playthroughs it's quite useful to get into New Londo early, for the firekeeper soul, titanite chunks and the Very Large Ember. The ghosts are quite reasonable if you get the transient curses and know where to go so they don't run out. With your weapon damage you can easily deal with the darkwraiths and they are worth farming. And since you don't need curses for them, you can simply jump down from the first area (as you discovered) and skip the ghosts entirely. Of course, Four Kings is a pure DPS check so not recommended to do early. Oh, and you don't get the key without the lordvessel so the guy has to die...

emma i think you fell to your death more times in this episode than in that anor londo episode with the archers ps. when u said "you nasty boy" i had to seek god for a second also just a friendly reminder: you get lost cuz u run past all the enemies and dont explore. if you killed them one by one, you'd have a chance to look around without worrying about enemies attacking ya. like most these dudes can be 1v1'd but provided u dont run past them and then aggro the next 2-3 enemies ahead. tldr- slowin it down might save u and also killing the ghosts asap before they have the chance to group up is another thing that could've saved u. XD

Well done on beating the four kings. They each appear on a set time, so if you don't kill one quick enough you could see multiple kings at the same time. Conversely, if you do enough damage, you could beat the boss by killing just one king. I would recommend that you do the DLC next. You will automatically be sent into NG+ after beating the final boss. So any loose ends...... do them before you even think about the endgame.

Nope you wouldn't have been able to go to New Londo early like that. The floodgates you opened from the inside are the doors that seperate New Londo from the Valley of Drakes. There's still some exploration left for you, both in New Londo amd the Valley of Drakes. And now that I think of it, you aren't done in Anor Londo either.

DS devs are the ultimate trolls - when you fell into the abyss there was a good chance you'd fall onto one of the platforms and die before reaching the abyss. Then you don't know if you died because of gravity or the wrong ring/item. On NG+ you could try to kill the 4 kings before obtaining the lordvessel. Since you can't teleport from the bonfire in the Abyss, you may be wondering how you can leave that place..

The Abyss bonfire is a special case and you can always warp from it, even if you kill the 4K as the second boss (first would still have to be Sif) -- however to get you-know-who to show up you need to have obtained the Lordvessel but not placed it at the altar by other means, he won't actually show up without it in your possession if you go straight for the 4 Kings by killing Ingward for the key

Great Job with Four Kings! Don't you worry, Emma 99% of the comment section has your back! New Londo IS scary as F*CK, so you did FANTAstic, for playing with a camera, on you. New Londo really needs to be picked clean with more time and not necessarily, on camera. You really shouldn't worry too much about how your play is, you are truly doing well. I keep saying this and I am sorry to be repetitive about it. Virtual Hugs! Try not to be embarrassed, on the other side of the camera, your play looks really good, REALLY! You have boatloads of confidence, and you are funny as sh*t! Dark Souls 1 gets weirdo's, sometimes that attempt to get you to do things one way, or another try to understand THEY have the problem, not YOU. Play your game. You deserve to have fun and it turns out much better, in the final production, for most normal people, to view. New Londo took me forever to get through and took a couple of days to figure it out and I still had to look up the RING thing, most people do. I am biased about taking your time (my time), but others DO rush through New Londo and you're instincts work very well. You found the boss very quickly, without knowing where you were going! It was really entertaining. New Londo is the best farming area for Titanite Slabs and Chunks from the Darkwraiths! However, fear is never to be made fun of. It is truly OK to tell your viewers your struggles and that is good. You do that fairly well. Virtual Hugs. Just know that your confidence shows and embracing it headfirst is HOW you overcome.
