For me, the biggest surprise was the plethora of option configurations! It basically comes down to budget constraints. You pick the price that’s right for you. I believe all of these will have mammoth performance specs. I am not dissatisfied with my M1.

Lol nah it isn't. Thats just a design choice because the previous keys were big so it wouldn't look like the area around the keys were black, but these keys are shaped a little different so apple had to paint the area near the keys black otherwise it would look nasty.

To me, the new design reminds me of the powerbook g4 titanium. Though it is quiet slimmer and lighter. But those rounded corners at the bottom and the flat top… Even the blacked space between the keys was also present at the titaniums. I love it.

Is worth it to buy a 2nd hand Macbook pro 16” i9 64gb ram 8gb gpu or a new Macbook pro 14” base model?

Does anyone know if these screens use heavy PWM? I can't use any iphones after the X (except for base 11, which is LCD), because I'm one of those people that get massive eye strain and headaches.

Just ordered the 14 inch M1 Max, 2TB 64GB, 32core model. $1K more than I had budgeted for but it's going to be so worth it. Waited 6 years to upgrade and I'm so excited. Thank goodness for the Apple card installment plan. Currently 3-4 week shipping time.

@@bigsur370 I use it for my business so it is going to be a tax write off, also I have it on the Apple Card 0% interest payment plan. So it’s not too bad on the wallet. Being able to game on it is just going to a be a big plus.

M1 MAX already ordered. I like the notch because I see it for what it is - an expansion of the screen that still provides a great camera, in the right place. Less crazy about the black keyboard deck because I liked the contrast, but whatever. I'll probably use it in clamshell mode 80% of the time.

@@Stevel_ But it isn't that big of a deal. It just sits in the middle of the menu bar which is a wasted space anyway and in full screen it just blacks out. So, overall you just gain back the vertical space taken by menu bar before.

Not quite. It would have been the perfect MacBook Pro without the notch, with a current spec HDMI port (instead of the outdated 2.0 they included here), and an Ethernet port in the power brick.

@@utkarsharyan "it just sits in the middle of the menu bar" looking ugly, in what was before a seamless translucent space. Then when you go full screen on apps, they create a fake bezel to hide it. So exactly why did they get rid of the real bezel? And what space are we actually gaining when they create a fake bezel? Many apps on Mac, in full screen mode take over the menu bar area and use all of that space as screen real estate. Now, those apps are being shifted down on this screen under a fake bezel, so it's essentially the exact same screen real estate as if they left the screen uninterrupted by that hideous notch and these fake bigger screen numbers are nothing but marketing spin as it's unusable space artificially created from a giant, unnecessary notch.

I've ordered a 14" space gray MB Pro with the M1 Pro chip and 32 GBs of unified memory. I was disappointed that they didn't announce the new mac mini because I would have ordered that as well. Hopefully that will be announced in November.

Nvidia Ampere uses Samsung 8nm/TSMC 7nm process node, while Apple M1 uses TSMC 5nm process node. This might partially explain the improvement in graphics power efficiency. Looking forward to your real world comparisons.

The original M1 beat a 1550 TI desktop GPU at several benchmarks. The M1 Max has 4x the GPU cores.

I think I’d rather have a black bezel. I can’t not see that notch. In a world where everyone is getting rid of the notch and Apple is shrinking it on the iPhone, Apple decided to add one to their MBP’s? I don’t get what these folks are doing.

Jason Lefevers I don't think notch is a bad thing for Apple. On the other hand it's becoming the signature of Apple products and bring out differences in tech world. Imagine when apple ditched the notch, every smartphones and laptops look the same and wouldn't boring?

@@mrapple9147 If you don’t mind the notch then yes, but personally I think the notch looks terrible in my iPhone and now I’d have to see it on my MacBook Pro too? No thanks. I’m indifferent towards which OS I use so I could just as easily get a Surface device and be happy with no notch.
