- defaults write -g InitialKeyRepeat -int 10 - defaults write -g KeyRepeat -int 1 - defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false Makes typing much better, you have to restart computer to take effect. Also Tinkertool is a great customisation app.

Dark mode doesn't save battery life of your device unless your display was an OLED which literally turn the LED off when the pixel assignment was totally black, the ones that was on macbooks were Retina LED-backlit displays that basically still had always on backlight.

I recently bought an M1 macbook air and this happens to be my first ever macbook and i was using windows previously. Great video, a couple things though. Battery percentage drains your battery slightly more as it is constantly checking your battery level. It’s slight, so it is for sure a preference thing. Dark mode doesn’t save battery on a MacBook or iPad like it does for an iPhone. The reason for that is the iPhone has an OLED screen, which allows for the pixels to turn off when not lit aka black. LED screens every pixel is always lit, even if the pixel is black. 😉

To the first point, no kidding!? Haha that’s interesting. I was not aware of that, but definitely worth the trade off for me. For the second point, I was aware of this and a minor mess up in the script making for my video. Thanks for clarifying for the viewers here! :)

@@TerrenRule Yeah on the first point, it's really slight like you might save a minute or two of battery time. I only mention it because I know some are obsessed about SSD read & battery cycles. Truth is they'll be fine for the life of the computer. So it's one of those things you might mention or maybe later think about a video on how to squeeze more battery life out of an aging battery 👍

It’ll likely just drop 1 percent then charge back to 100% and after it’s done that 100 times it’ll be “one cycle” if you were to leave it plugged in the entire time. I don’t think that’s good for the overall battery life either.

As a long time macbook user, a lot of these are exactly what I adjusted also. Finder tips were new to me tho, thanks for that! I know this is an old video but if you’re like me who doesn’t like to hard press the trackpad ever, you can change drag+drop in Accessibility > Touch iirc and change it to three finger drag instead!

I think its just out of habit! I use my MacBook Air with an external keyboard (Logitech Mx Keys), and that layout does not have a spotlight shortcut.
