Generally players who think they have a good chance at that continue playing though, or do some combination of chess and other things. There aren't that many examples of kids who likely would have been top top players who completely dropped out for good. Generally their parents would pull them away before they reached such a high level at a young age, or else it makes it less likely later on. It takes such extreme effort to get where they are, which is why it makes it harder to quit when you get to a very high level at a young age, and your less likely to want to. Parents should understand this before they get their kids coaching and help them get to this level. It's more valuable for them to get involved in things other than chess for sure, but this needs to be understood before you get anywhere near the level of Faustino.
