Hi my friends. Work came to an unexpected halt last week because we dropped everything and drove down to North Carolina to be with my grandmother at the end of her life. She was 103, she had an extraordinary life and crossed over very peacefully, and we all made it in time to be with her while she was still awake and lucid-so lucky. But that is why it’s been a couple of weeks since the last video. This episode of NMHT was filmed before we left, and the next video will be a check-in touching base about the break. As a resident of Tennessee, I felt like it was my duty to buy one of Sweet Dolly's new lipsticks. She does such amazing work for our state and for the country (and beyond?!?). The free books for every child for five years...created because her father was illiterate. She founded the imagination library WITH her dad, and it brought him so much joy to be tangibly helping children have a better start than he got.

@@beauty_enthusiast I got the really dark one because it seemed sheer-to-buildable coverage, and that's what I like in colored lip products. And it was intimidating in the tube but sheer upon application. Just what I'd hoped! The packaging looks impressive, but it feels really lightweight and maybe not worth the price for someone just wanting to buy a lipstick. I don't regret buying it, though. And I will wear it.

The thing is, "I need a warm palette" works OK as a full sentence, and that's what's on the packaging you show. It's just that the first one is widely referred to as "I need a nude", and subsequently "I need a warm" sounds ridiculous.

As a bit of a goth, the Givenchy quad with red, purple and black is definitely up my street, but there are indie brands out there who do this colour scheme at a more reasonable price point and usually with a better formula. Similarly gothy, I have the black Fenty lip gloss- it's very nice, a little sticky for my liking- but has a very, very light pigment and is incredibly wearable for those looking to just dip their toe in. If you'd like something a touch more punchy without going full black gloss, the Half-Magic Drip lip gloss in "Problem Child" is very similar, just with a bit more depth, and my current favourite. If you fancy just going all-in and dosing up with a very opaque black, there's a Chinese douyin brand called Girlcult that makes some lovely products including a black gloss that's *very* intense and smell's like old granny's knicker drawer. I love that product, and the whole brand tbh. Their little four-pan quads have slightly suggestive packaging that makes me giggle each time I pull it from my stash. IYKYK ;)

I no longer live in North Carolina but I was born there and many family members still live there. My grandmother lived to be 105. Luckily she died peacefully as well. Very sorry for your loss, but how blessed were we to have them for so long! My grandmothers name was Lovie, and on her 100th birthday she drank a beer and had a cigarette. I am not sure if we need a 90$ green powder at all. Nyx has a green pressed powder that works just fine. If you want loose powder, Lily Lolo (and likely other mineral makeup brands) has a green corrector in loose powder form (colour "Blush away") and pressed (in "Pistachio").

Gel-Powder usually it's usually a baked formula versus a pressed powder. Baked powders are more fluffly pick up with more difficulty on a regular brush ( you probably want a natural hair one) but also the finish is smoother less powdery. Examples I can think of : tom ford highlighters, clinique cheek pop blushes, some special edition chanel blushes. These are just like some of the baked eyeshadows more 'mature' skin friendly. They have a waffle to support the product on the bottom of the pan. And because the texture is not highly pressed they occupied more space than regular powders. I guess the target audience is someone who likes a more 'glowy/creamy look' but has a skin that loves more powdery product

It's not even THAT great, but 2007ish did not have many options in that regard! I actually have the prada powder in my cart for a couple of weeks already. The price is very high, I can afford it, just dont know if it would do what I expect. I would never rely on that in the mornings to take down enough redness, thats what foundation is for. But I need a touch up powder during the day and of it does take some redness that comes back through than Im in as if it would be that good I would maybe spend my money on refills that they offer. It just seems so unlikely that it could really do that... 😂

I think you need to get the green powder and color corrector, Hannah. I wouldn’t buy it, but it is absolutely perfect for you. It is exactly because you are older and more sophisticated and discerning that this is right for you. To me, it fits neatly into your philosophy of buying less, but selecting better items and ones that are just right for you. I personally wouldn’t get it because it’s not for me, but I would consider it if I needed green powder. I’m sure there are others who are intrigued and would rather buy this than three average lipsticks. I would definitely watch the video about it regardless.

No, that VB concealer pen doesn't contain the same amount of product as other concealers. The Westman Atelier one, for example, costs like 3 dollars less but has 10ml, versus Victoria's meager 2.4ml. The new Gucci highlighters are even more beautiful in person and application! It’s my understanding that “gel powder” types of marketing descriptions mean baked powder. Baked powder starts in a wet form and gets baked to a powder. Even though it’s now dry it acts like a cream, especially when it comes in contact with the skin or other wet consistencies. It’s hydrocentric.
