I wasn't really interested in this figure but the color mismatching totally kills it. As you said, it's hideous. It's such a shame because otherwise it looks pretty good. I have the same complaint over the Hulkbuster's massive unpainted marbley section.

When Rektangular announced this I was excited because I thought we were getting a rerelease of the comic BAF, but seeing this I'm in the disappointed camp. The MCU Man-Thing takes away a lot of the cooler design choices that I like about the comic version. I am either going to have to eBay some Man-Thing Baf parts to kitbash or skip it and wait for something down the line.

Corporate apologists infuriate me. For $40 there is absolutely no excuse for cheaping out on the paint. The lack of paint makes the figure look kinda flat. Some paint would have added depth and improved the overall presentation of the figure. Easy pass for me.

We got the $25 Monster Venom and Thanos just a few years ago. Now they are giving us these super inflation figures with barely any improvements for $40.

I still think the BAF is better than this, it has a way better head sculpt and better paint like you said. The new one severely lacks in paint with some parts going completely unpainted. But you know, it's Man-Thing, so it's still super cool in its own right.

The special presentation was a fun watch and I think there's a color version on Disney + now I didn't watch it colorized but the B+W version was perfectly cheesey and just plain fun to watch....lots of easter egg fun and the Manthing bits...while not long enough were good. End of the day I think you'll enjoy it and even if it ain't your thing its not like its 3hrs long or anything

Xmanny - thanks for saying what you did - I have the BAF and when I saw the promo picks I was thinking of how much money I am saving. There is no allure to the new one that would consider it an upgrade from the BAF. If I may suggest you wait until Halloween to watch Werewolf. You will not be disappointed. Happy Birthday Sir.

I’m actually excited for this figure because mainly “Werewolf by Night” was the only MCU project (minus the Guardians holiday special) not to get figures since 2022. I think it was because of the black and white vintage style (minus the ending & post credit scene) they used for the show and Hasbro decided to wait for a whole full color version to be released which they did. I didn’t really notice the bad paint work until you mentioned it. But I might paint it to make it more accurate that’s what I’m planning when I make a General Ross and live action Prowler.

LOVE X-Men vs Street Fighter! I have the exclusive edition 1up arcade from a few years ago that has children of the atom, marvel superheroes, and punisher. Looks great in my man cave/collectables room! ... I'm jealous that the newer ones have all these other great games that I love on one console! ...I need to convert mine into an emulator and just put every game on it!

Sold my BAF last year expecting a new Man-Thing even before Rektangular's leaks. I got it second-hand for a decent price and even though he came with ToyBiz's Toad's Swamp diorama, the (Man-)Thing was just too loose for my taste and the head, despite being the classic design, always seemed too small and/or positioned too high on the toy. Funny you mention paint apps, because that was another gripe I had with the BAF - technically had a lot of paint, but all those vines and mushrooms just blended into the design. Now, the new one has better proportioned head (would have preferred the original's eyes), extra fists, better shoulders, forearms and shins, actually painted mushrooms and vines... But I'll wait for a sale. It's a minor character from a minor MCU production - bound to go down in price considerably sooner rather than later. With some light drybrushing it should be my (almost) ideal Man-Thing.

If it does go on clearance and you can get a good deal on it then go for it. I can’t predict when things will go on sale so I’m not relying on it. Sometimes they don’t go clearance. But we’ll see.

I never did finish the baf. TRU was liquidating and despite the wall of Punisher and Daredevil i just thought theyd be easily avialable and slept on them too long. I think Id need blade too. As much as thats high on my need to complete list, the MCU changes arent really for me.

I don't like it. My thinking after hearing the leak it was coming was they'd either reissue the original baf maybe with new paint apps if it was a comic book version or do an all new MCU accurate body sculpt like they do for 98% of MCU Legends. Instead, they offer us this thing with lame retooling of those old baf parts, which does not look screen accurate & just doesn't get it done for me. Even the more accurate MCU head sculpt just looks off on this body. His standing proportion looks more like Swamp Thing than the lumbering Man-Thing. As a long-time Manny fan, I'm very disappointed & feel like this is just another poorly designed money grab from Hasbro. :(
