Thank you for sharing New Mexico history! My Grandma, Jesusa Ortiz, was from Colfax/Dawson New Mexico. I have just recently started my ancestry and had always been very interested in my Grandma's side. I have found that our ancestry in New Mexico goes back to the first settlers of NM. Several people you have spoke about are ancestors of mine. Growing up I was very confused by my Grandma telling me that the spanish she spoke was different from the Mexico spanish. It was also strange to me that she would call Mexico "Old Mexico". Listening to you has helped me understand and has made me very proud of my New Mexico heritage. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
