2:13 Just wanna point out that with Gifts Unborn technically the opponent chooses the two cards that go in the graveyard, not the hand. It's an important distinction from when people would use Gifts to search up a reanimation target and Unburial Rites

I noticed he said he could remand his flashbacked grapeshot, and you can target a flashbacked spell with remand. The flashbacked card will still go to exile. Flashback has a replacement effect that says if it were to leave the stack, it is exiled instead.

@@joelbuschaus8505 You are wrong, just read the rules text for flashback: "Flashback is a keyword ability on instants and sorceries that allows the player to pay an alternative cost to cast the spell directly from their graveyard. The spell card is exiled when the spell leaves the stack. Flashback's equivalent for permanents is unearth."

As a storm player, every mh2 mythic elemental actually makes this deck worst, the only thing you can play around is Fury, but Fury decks also have Ragavan which also wrecks Serum Vision topdecks.

Splice isn't an activated ability, it's an additional cost on the spell itself. The mana you spend on it is still spent to cast the spell.

Excellent content. I didn't know that gifts was a combo kill with being able to put past in flames into the graveyard and flashback all the rituals or it goes into my hand allowing me to cast it and win with my rituals. 😏

Mostly due to heavy creature removal with the mh2 evoke creatures makes keeping baral and electromancers stick early

Baral and Electromancer are basically rituals, so that's not the problem, especially since you can always respond to removal given everything in the deck but a few 1 CMC cantrips and Past in Flames are instant speed. It's always been a difficult deck to play. It's really fragile against hand disruption, countermagic, and it's easy to whiff (especially if you're facing lethal and have to combo off before you're ready). Graveyard hate doesn't help, either. A lot of other combo decks in the format are just faster, more resilient, and more consistent. I think the format has just gotten too fast with too many value cards that a deck looking to cast 10 spells in one turn as its win condition just isn't good.

Gets hated on by 3 different big angles. Hand hate, removal, and graveyard hate. Twiddle storm does better right now because it only loses to graveyard and hand hate, ignoring creature hate, and can win without graveyard after sideboarding. This deck is critical mass, so every card in hand matters a lot as well. You really want as many cards as possible when playing storm. Some people like losing the die because they get to be on the draw without revealing they are on storm. It's too easy to shut down Gifts Storm without committing to it with a sideboard plan. Targeting graveyard to stop Murktide/undying stuff? You just shut down past in flames. Fatal Push/Bolt for monkey/sentinel/hammer carriers before they get hammer? You just killed baral/goblin. Hand Hate? You probably just took out a key piece because they deck needs so many cards to go off. The term glass cannon applies to Gifts storm more than any deck currently in Modern, IMO.
