New Mystic Unclassified Relic - Thargoid-Guardian hybrid | Elite Dangerous

My hypothesis is that their use is not yet in-game, or at least not yet active in game. They're still Guardian items and I think will continue to be used as such, only now the Thargoids don't view them as antagonistic or hostile... so if these relics, or the process used to create them, can somehow be implemented into current Guardian modules and weapons (presumably via a new engineer or new options from a current engineer), they would theoretically become immune to the affect in HIP 22460 that's causing Guardian modules/Weapons to become instantly inoperable. After all, they would now be using a form of Guardian substances that the Thargoids do not consider hostile. If further star systems become targets of Thargoid incursions, AND those incursions also include the means to disable Guardian modules/weapons, the benefit of this engineering becomes clear.... IF (and it's a big "IF") it turns out I'm right.

Bringing those relics to the systems Ram Tah and Palin reside grants you a full invitation to their station, skipping all but the donation requirement. Without having other engineers unlocked, I passed a relic on to a friend while near Palin’s planet, and he immediately got an invitation, skipping the need for a 5,000 LY journey to unlock. From there, just had to donate 25 sensor fragments. Didn’t even have to sell the relics to gain access! I’ve been passing them around my friend group to save everyone the trip.

Yes it does. In fact, it grants you a full invitation with no prior prerequisites if you jump in-system while carrying an unclassified relic in your cargo hold. Once you dock, just donate Thargoid sensor fragments or whatever commodity they usually ask for and you have the engineer unlocked. You don’t even have to sell the relic. I’ve been passing a couple around between my friends to unlock Palin without needing to do the 5000 ly trip :p I even have a friend who hasn’t gotten into engineering, and now Palin is the first one they have unlocked.

This kind of hybrid of thargoid-guardian tecnology is now, as I speak, beeing used by Aegis to develop a module that a ship can use against the repulsive and disruptive wave that keeps any ships from penetrate deep inside the heart of a thargoid maelstrom.This kind of module is currently beeing tested on several unmanned probes, that have actually succesfully neutralized the wave. Probably the Unclassified Relic itself will become a key component to unlock the module. Can wait to see when we'll be actually able to fit one of this piece of tech inside our ships!

Alternatively, you can drop the relics, activate the device, anc go get some fresh air outside for a few minutes. The device will cool down, and you can go pick up the relics in peace!

Here's some speculation for you D2EA... by making these we are inadvertently charging up the other Thargoid surface sites at which point I'd wager the sites that reach some pre-determined quota will fire off their own Proteus Wave. My theory right now is that there is likely going to be a knock-on effect if multiple sites trigger in the same region/system increasing their range beyond the system they are in... The definition of "unclassified" according to google is "not arranged in or assigned to classes or categories." which makes me thing that the Thargoid structure is depleting the relic in some way. Something they didn't do before until Salvation taught them by using their own site.

I didn't actually think that could be a possibility until you pointed this out but its certainly a plausible situation, these relics also look slightly degraded, like parts of them are chipped and they're "cloudy" not bright like the guardian variant are as if the power has been pulled from them and a corrupted shell is left behind

both Ram Tah and Prof. Palin will pay you 1.1m/ton for them, which is the only other thing you can do with them other than give them to Thargoids as far as anyone is aware yet. interestingly, Ram Tah sees them as Guardian-ish and Pailin sees them as Thargoid-ish, indicating that they have both types of signatures after modified. - β

It's like buddy said it's a group thing. I wouldn't worry about it the most important thing is to get all your engineers unlocked and fill up on materials so you can engineer whatever you want whenever you want.

Some people with fleet carriers have a hold full of guardian stuff already, I don't, but after the update went to look at guardian sites to see of anything had changed, obviously some others went to thargoid sites.

PSA horizons and console commanders: do not waste your time. Relics consumed, no unclassified relics. I just blew 20+ hours creating an anti corrosive cargo rack and gathering materials. It does the whole animation and all the damage heat and aggro, then nothing. Excellent guide D2A. as always. Please tell the people if you do not have Odyssey do not try this.

I have one of those tape measure wallets. It is a money clip (or a clip to fit onto my belt) with a bolted on tape measure. How useful. Its a money clip with bolted on cared holder. It isn't a wallet.

We use thargoid stuff with human tech to make meta alloy and enzyme weapons, next we use guardian stuff with human tech to make thargoid damage efficient weapons and module for boost fsd/power/shield. So next, why not have thargoid + guardian + human tech together ?

Quick PSA if you encounter the SRV targetting bug. Hop out and ping that Guardian tower with your trusty Karma L-6. Just enough Boom to free the Relic, not enough to destroy it.

Just tried this method TWICE, either the game is bugged or they are trying to prevent you doing this, as soon as you get the made relic your SRV will disintegrate, air depletes in 3 mins, you cannot repair it, try to speed out of the base with the relic and the SRV just jumps right (as if you it a huge rock) but you didnt hit anything, if you get out your SRV before the air runs out it just sits there (until you try getting back into it, BOOM) maybe you cannot do this anymore ? (I was in Odyssey mode)

So my idea about this discovery is that some people may have had the idea of combining Guardian technology with a Thargoid surface site following the (kind of) successful activation of the Proteus Wave... mostly, or entirely, made out of Guardian technology. I don't think it's too much of a logical leap to make. As to the why, what I think happened is that the Thargoids somehow 'attuned' to Guardian technology in a way previously not known to them as a result of the connection with the Proteus Wave. So their technology doesn't outright destroy it, but alters it in some way beneficial to the Thargoids, maybe. But it's something humans can probably also take advantage of, given enough time to study the strange relics.

Is this an Odyssey-only thing or does it work in Horizons as well? Also, PSA: thargoid surface site at Delphi 5 a (only one I've ever visited) always opens up for me without me carrying any thargoid object. Not sure if it's a bug or by design, or if it's a Horizons-only thing. I've always thought it's because I already unlocked it once so it kinda recognizes me every time I visit.

When opened the base to watch the thargoid "map", the thargoid probes were bugged, they were impossible to find, at least by hacking the cargo hatch from the ship wrecks mechanic. I got one because a good commander gave it to me from his cargo (4K credits is for almost for free). I don't know if they are still bugged and you can find them already.

I don't know exactly how I feel about this. While story wise its interesting but after hearing rumors that guardian tech weapons in specifically no longer work at all against the thargoids. And this is just another item/resource that you'll have to grind all over again to access another tech upgrade that essentially does the same amount of damage and likely just has a different animation.

@@xSKALBER judging by how FDev has rolled out things in the past. The weapons aren’t going to be set up any more powerful than they already are. Thargoids are alway going to be difficult if not impossible opponents to take out by yourself. After spending hours upgrading and unlocking guardian tech and winning some of community goals to get the special mod versions of the guardian weapons. Their now nerfed to be completely useless. And it’s being set up you’ll have to farm and grind these relics to progress. Sorry but it’s kind of a shitty surprise to all these commanders who worked their tails off only to have their prizes rendered useless unless you do this.

They loose integrity quite fast....Theoreticly you can install some FMUs and have them constantly repair the guardian weapon of choice when traversing HIP 22460.

It's simple: people were trying literally everything to see if there was anything new in general regarding Guardians and Thargs. Some person likely tried to check (like many others did) if Tharg sites now react any differently to Guardian items (just in case you don't know, they used to react really, really badly and basically turned the core room you were in into a microwave, if you unloaded from your cargo and onto the central machine any Guardian item). Probably happened to use a relic specifically for the experiment instead of any other Guardian item, and so discovered that relics now can be turned.

They are used to unlock the engineer Broo. Instead of having to shift for over 5000 ly you can just go to his engineering plant with ine of these in your hold and unlock him that way. Saves sooooo much time.

The new artifacts are literally Guardian-Thargoid hybrids. Salvation just used all that Guardian tech and the dead Thargoid mothership site. To craft a Thargoid with a Guardian AI pilot. This mothership then connected to all the interceptors in range like a hive mind. And since it's the Guardian AI, it controls the Guardian tech.

Something happened on thargoid site on HIP 22460, it means players tried to visit other thargoid sites to check if something changed and got new unidentified relics. Before tuesday placing guardian relics in thargoid site just made scavengers angry, but after that new unidentified relics were made from guardian relics

As long as you stay out of HIP 22460 you can keep on ignoring the Thargoids...for now. On a more serious note, FDev's design philosophy for Elite has been very much focused on giving players options for varied gameplay, rather than creating gameplay that players are forced to engage in (sometimes less successfully - esp. the lack of varied paths for on-foot gear upgrading). But honestly, I don't see them radically changing that philosophy any time soon.

You don't really need 3 relics, you should bring them but just as long as you can fill up the thargoid machine it will work. It will accept any guardian artefacts, orb, tablet, urn etc but only the relics are changed

Side note, the ancient key does not work, its the only guardian object the thargoid machine wont accept
