It's like hearing an old friend for the first time in 16 years.

Last time he growls on a album was 16 years ago (Watershed, 2008)
@dogbiscuits7524 ай бұрын
He did a guest appearance growl on the Devin Townsend Project’s song “Stand” from their album “Deconstruction”, released on June 20, 2011. That was the very last time he growled on a released studio album until now. He also did all the vocals on Bloodbath’s “The Fathomless Mastery”, which released on September 29, 2008, and even did another guest vocal appearance on the song “Unhealer” from Ihsahn’s “angL” album, released on May 26, 2008, exactly a week after Opeth’s “Watershed”. Either way, it’s been a damn long time!

I was going to say "um actually Bloodbath", but dang, already so long ago huh.

@@stevemuzak8526 It’s honestly amazing that he decided to come out of growling retirement, eh? I never thought it’d happen, myself.
@stevemuzak85264 ай бұрын
@@dogbiscuits752 He did that because his voice recovered after years of smoking. He quits smoking and his brutal growl returns.

I love how they started the song as prog rock with clean vocals and all of the sudden : BRUTALITY!

It's rather cute how everybody isn't exactly blown away but rather touched and moved. Idols truly are our fathers and our sons.

I appreciate that you are honest about hearing about the growls before you listened to the song, respect my friend! On to the song, it has a mix of GR, watershed, and CV. Growls sound great. And the melody is very catchy. The new drummer (still haven’t memorized his names yet) has a Martin Lopez feel.

This track makes every hair on my body go: "woo-hooooo"😂 His growls are back and they're sooo good, not to mention the sound of the band. And it sounds so spooky as well🙂 I haven't been more pleasantly surprised in quite some time and the album can't come soon enough🤘

I admit I am more than happy his growls are back, but I would not have been disappointed had they not brought them back. The songwriting and aggression is what does it for me on this track.

I could not stand the last 4 Opeth albums, and god knows I tried. Still Life Blackwater Park Deliverance/Damnation Ghost Reveries Watershed That's prime Opeth to me. You can still hear remnants of the previous 4 albums, but I don't mind, cuz it's not Jethro Tull or Camel impersonations. It's Opeth OR Old-peth I should say. Mikael gets that he left behind the old school Opeth heads for a more 70's inspired prog rock sound. Hey, better late than never. This new one slams. Thank you Mikael.
