So yeah, I am one of those engineers you are fond of. 😀 But I am not in chassie design..... Although I was floored to hear that the front knuckle assembly was from a test vehicle! By law, all test vehicles are supported to crushed and none of those parts should ever make it to the second hand market, because not all of the parts may have passed validation testing. Love the videos and commentary! Keep up the great content....

I was foaming at the mouth a little at 12:15. I used to be the alignment guy and I've done plenty of GM trucks & vans with many variations on those eccentric slots. GM has this gift for putting something like that in plain sight and still, somehow, make it difficult to access and adjust well before rust makes its contribution to your misery. That truck will be easy to align by comparison to most of them. The worst part is finding the RPO tag to enter a dozen codes into the aligner.

I can't believe you skipped the most critical step. When holding tension with a jack, wrap a red shop rag around the end of the prybar. Other color rags can be substituted, as can a wrench for the bar.

Some guys collect those dealer tags, it's kind of unusual to see one that's not a sticker these days. Test vehicle with three miles? did it fail the test? Watching this reminds me of when I had to patch up a '57 Buick convertible so it would go on a trailer, and it had both left A-arms torched off, no spindle, hub or wheel to be found. We robbed parts off a '58 to put suspension and a wheel on. That took some doing because while the mounting was about the same, the arms were entirely different as was the shock position. Did I mention this was out in a field 100 yards from the shop? I did have a generator though, which was good as I needed a lot of work from the cutoff wheel.

Depress brake pedal at least 1 inch and the bore fill port is behind piston seal and the brake reservoir won't drain through open lines. More important is that ABS won't go dry and need to be SOB bled. How did you get the GM test vehicle to crash at 3 miles?
