I’d call the deadlift pull a “clean pull” using the same mechanics as a clean but only lifting the bar a couple inches above the power position after the point of contact in the upper thigh

If I were to use an eccentric overload exercise for a volleyball player, would having them do banded hitting approaches for that 5 minutes before jump training be just as good?

Based on current research, is this technique not utilizing a post-activation perfromance enhancement (PAPE) training strategy as opposed to post-activation potentiation?

Matt - look up “clean pull catalyst athletics” to see if this the deadlift shrug exercise you’re talking about. Common training tool in Olympic weightlifting training 🏋️‍♀️

There are a ton of exercises on a spectrum of impact momentum. High impact momentum like loaded jumps or depth jumps and low impact momentum like squat jumps and pogo hops. . You typically want to train across that spectrum but develop the eccentric strength specific to the loads you are going to be moving. Ex: track and field athletes want to build specific eccentric strength against bodyweight resistance. Football players may benefit from higher loads such as the resistance of a sled, weight vest, barbell jump, etc. to develop strength specific to moving another player.
