Always interesting variety of US, world & ancients, your video magnification is impeccably pleasant, your monologue with hints and drops are always entertaining; thank you!

The Austrian piece also has many adjustment marks like many early US coins do. I guess it was common practice throughout all of the mints to adjust the weight of the coin by scraping them with a rasp prior to striking. Many of the early French escus have heavy file marks as well.

Ink Chops became very common towards the end of chop marking as a practice from what i understand. I'd have to reference my book

Another fantastic coin video Ben love the combination of coins . I finally got me a 8 R from a shipwreck. I'd love to own the 1818 25 cent bust them large quarters are great .

Great presentation as usual, The 1818 large size quarter was a straight grade which is surprising since there was damage on the "2" of 25C., Guess that person grading this coin was in a pretty good mood that day 😊!

That 1818 capped bust quarter floored me... How did that get a straight grade? The two was obviously obliterated with scratches. I have a morgan with the barest of scrapes - only visible with the right angle and light - and it gets a details: scratched grade from PCGS. You didn't address this Ben. Perhaps you should.

grading is just a way to rig the market ... scam alert

Maybe it was filed off at the mint because it was over weight? 🤔 Sure looks like someone gouged the heck out of it though…

Hey Ben, many thanks - but: what is the difference between a die gouge and a die crack? The outcome of both phenomena seems identical (raised areas). Can you help me with an answer, please?

Most dealers are basically charging there own customers to buy there coins like yea I buy them but only if I can make 40 percent
@williamguirl7735Күн бұрын
That 24-S Buffalo reverse is flat as a pancake, old school coin dealers like jack beymer wouldn’t grade past Fine, flat strike considering.

Never understood the dealers pricing coins at a certain grade when raw to me if it’s uncirculated then it should be priced at ms60 not at ms64 that’s the part of grading now in theory a person would lose money buying raw walker at ms64 then pay fees to get it graded and see if it comes back at ms64 only reason I say this is because when dealers buy the coins they don’t pay ms64 money but yet sell at ms64 coin business is the only business that I know of that hedges off there customers own money
