I know on other videos you get alot of comments about how people hate how you talk fast, but i honestly really like that. Your speech pattern is really normal and even though im deaf and have to read lips and use the captions, i love thay you talk at just the right speed to keeo the captions moving at a perfect pace where i dont have to wait for the whole thing to load before reading the full sentance bevause the person is talking too slow or too slow for the automatic captions to make sense of ehat the person is saying. Anyways, i love your videos and i think the speed that you talk is perfect, as well as your pronunciation of the words and the fact you talk very clearly and "properly" which makes it easier for the captions to pick up
@TheClosetHistorian6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Katherine! I am so glad to hear the automatic captions are reasonable, because I am SO BEHIND on captioning my videos and it is honestly a constant worry in my mind. I really want to take the time to get everything captioned, it's a serious goal for me this upcoming month. And thank you for reassuring me, I really do genuinely talk very fast all the time, my own mother tells me to slow down over lunch sometimes so it is a true facet of my personality ;)

Ugh!!! I’m painfully waiting until I’m an adult to buy my own pair of one of these shoes. So I have time to make a decision cos all of them are absolutely beautiful and I always come back here just to see them. And it’s true! The heels on modern shoes are all straight. Honestly, before finding out about vintage, I hated shopping for clothes because I never liked anything but once I realized that I found a style that suits every whim I have it’s now just a matter of time before I have enough vintage style clothes to noticeable show that’s what I’m going for.

I love the fall collection. I got three pairs, Alice in nutmeg, Greta in garnet and Ruth. Not being used to buttoning my shoes, I will practice, I managed to tear a button out. They are all very comfortable and stylish. I'll have to save up as well for the spring, I got two pairs last spring and hope to add to my collection the coming spring. The import tax and postage makes the shoes really expensive, but I find them worth the cost. You really showed the shoes so nicely, and your look was very stylish. I especially love the lipstick. Can you share brand and name, please?
@TheClosetHistorian6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Helene! I plan on picking up the Alice's in nutmeg too as soon as I can ;) I don't exactly remember which lipstick I put on this day, I think it may be the shade fighter from Colourpop with a really old Revlon sheer shine lipstick over the top? I really can't remember so I'm sorry!

I ended up getting the Ruth in brown. I, of course, wanted all of their new ones but I had to be practical in my choices since I work on my (very sensitive) feet and needed a smaller heel. Getting them in black probably would have been a better option since my wardrobe is 80% black but I'm using them as an excuse to buy more non-black things. Sadly I have not been able to wear them outside of the house however since it has rained everyday this week. I am nervous to wear them out, even with a leather protectant, since they are my first pair of quality shoes.
@TheClosetHistorian6 жыл бұрын
I'm sure they are beautiful! It doesn't rain here in Colorado very much so I don't have a lot of experience with rain proofing leather myself. I understand your hesitation, got to protect those gorgeous new shoes! :)

I got to wear them today but they completely tore up my heels within twenty minutes of wear. That's what I get for having skin like rice paper. I guess that you don't truly own a pair of shoes until you bleed on them.

Damn, another collection of gorgeous shoes from royal. Thanks so much for the close-ups, they are invaluable! One question: do the laces keep tight as you wear these? I find that this type of laces goes loose on me throughout the day and I have a narrow foot, so tat is a problem.
@TheClosetHistorian6 жыл бұрын
Hmm I'm really not sure as I haven't worn them out and about yet! I think since they are mostly decorative, as the fronts nearly meet up and don't need too much tension to hold them closed, it may be okay? Sorry I can't be more helpful! I think these would look great with other possibly more secure laces too, like grosgrain ribbon or silk ribbon perhaps.

I was really excited for Aspen when I saw the preview and was so ready to order, but the more information they released, the more I realised thay they are just not actually practical as winter shoes....especially for an eastern-northern European winters that I have to deal with as they are not actually that warm and the fabric wouldn't hold up to the water, the sand and the salt of the wintery pavements here. But the main deal braker was the fact that they didn't have a good snow protector on the soles - I'd brake my bones the first time I'd walk out in them :D So in the end I couldn't justify the price with the shipping and the import duties sadly...they are pretty, though
@TheClosetHistorian6 жыл бұрын
The Aspens definitely capture the look but not the practicality of a snow boot! I don't even have proper snow boots myself, even living in Colorado where I truly should. The Aspens have the snow bunny look, but only for the nicest of winter days ;)

Paris Hilton wears a size 10 shoe. Jackie Kennedy also wore a pretty high size. I want to say a 12 also, but I can’t remember for sure about her. It was a national secret! Her shoes were marked size nine, but that was propaganda! I kid you not. My precious little Five foot two granddaughter wears a size ten. She’s a dark little beauty, like you, except more American Indian looking. Her feet are perfect to everyone who knows her, just as yours are. I say all that to point out, our feet in America are getting bigger. Yours look great in those new shoes. I really love the red ones. They look so dainty. Thank you Lele! I have been wearing heels so long now (I used to wear them on the daily in high school oddly) that these RV heels feel extra comfortable compared to modern skyscraping stilettos, but I understand the pain can be a concern. I can say with certainly that of all of my heels (and uh, between you and me...that's a lot of shoes! opps) my Royal Vintage ones are the most comfortable of all. I wear my Marilyn's a ton for that very reason.

I like the black satin shoes for the evening, very simple cut, very chic. The Aspen boots are too difficult to style elegantly, at least in France nobody wore them in the city with dresses, they were used only with trousers after ski, on winter resorts.The manufactureur of the boots knows that, that's why he named them "Aspen" . When you'll wear them, make a video for us to see.

@@TheClosetHistorian yes, I'm a sucker for victorian aesthetic as it is, but for every day wear I need something more "modern", so the button shoes screamed my name. Also, really love the curved heel. So pretty and comfy! Thank you! I would say the shoes must be quite average, Royal Vintage calls them a "B width (average)" and they recommend going a 1/2 size up for wide feet it looks like. They have a lot of sizing information on their website and excellent customer service too, so it may be worth just asking if you're not sure about a certain style. The thing about real leather shoes too of course is that they will stretch a bit and form to your foot. Sorry I can't be of more help!
