Pete was on Greg Koch’s podcast a few weeks ago, and it was definitely one of my favorite episodes ever. Two of the most entertaining guitar personalities on KZbin!

When I turned 45, my Wonderful Wife Jennifer gave me a brand-new Gretsch Country Gentleman for my birthday. At the time, if I remember correctly, they were shipping them with VERY HEAVY strings - I think they were .012’s or .013’s! That’s MUCH too heavy for me. So I changed them out for a set of .010’s. A much better gauge, but the handle on the Bigsby GB-7 stuck ‘WAY up off the guitar body. I was able to find a shorter spring, in gold (like all the rest of the hardware on the guitar), and it put the handle right where it should be. It took a while to find that spring, but it made all the difference! And in the bargain, that change made it a lot easier to use the Bigsby. So if you feel that your Bigsby would be better with a different spring, don’t be afraid to change it. You’ll take what could be a good guitar, and make it a GREAT guitar! Of course, it helps a LOT if you have a GREAT wife!

I used to work for Greg way back in the day. he was a Strat player. Had a limited run of fender Strats. Then went to teles. And now the greatest T style the Gristlemaster.

I have the Venetian Gold version of the Gristle 90, and it is versatile beyond belief. The tone from the P90's is fabulous, and notice - no 60 Cycle Hum! I have guitars from Gibson, Fender, PRS, Martin... and my go-to is my beloved Golden Gristle. Quality is fantastic, as well. Note that the pickups are active so you must charge the battery, but it lasts 100+ hours on a charge so, not an issue. Go Gristle Gang!

I was a bit surprised that his next signature guitar has a Bigsby and Gibson scale length, but not surprised about the Fluence P90s. Definitely my kind of guitar as I really like Bigsbys when they stay in tune! Thanks for the demo.

Fantastic guitars and really versatile, but watch that headstock. Korina,or white limba, is light and open grained but on a tilt back headstock very fragile. Mine got broken last summer when it fell forward off its stand at a festival. Treat it more gently than a Les Paul.

Reverend sells the spring replacements for Bigsby’s and its definitely worth it. Those stock ones are terrible. After I replaced mine with a Reverend spring my Bigsby plays like butter 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

I also have the Venetian Gold but I ran it by Greg that I changed the name to Gristle Town Gold. He liked it! HA! Anyway great guitar! I have never been a fan of active pickups but this is definitely a keeper. Pro tip, DO NOT leave your cord plugged into the guitar. The next time you go to play it, the battery will be discharged and it won't make a sound. Taking me a bit to get accustomed to that aspect but the rest feels really comfortable right when you pick it up. Really a great guitar! Great demo as always.
@JohnShalamskas2 жыл бұрын
Leaving the cable plugged into your guitar while it sits on a stand is also a good way to yank the guitar off the stand when someone trips on the cable.
