FYI: Home Depot is blowing out the prior version of Ridgid's boxes. For example, the smaller box is currently on sale for $19.98. Since the new boxes are backwards compatible with the prior version, this should allow you to round out your new system with some of the older boxes fairly cheaply.

Solid video great review. Probably the best one I seen today. I have mostly dewalt tools, but can't justify spending the money on tool boxes like that. They're on sale right now Black Friday, as all the stores are doing longer sale periods so there's not a rush. 2022 Black Friday deals are $29.99 ($10 off) for the small box, $39.99 ($10 off) for the medium box, and $69.99 ($20 off) for the rolling bottom box. I have the original 1.0 version, just missing the bottom so I'll grab 1 or 2, but started going with the Milwaukee packout due to the buy more save more $90 off if you spend $300, so I grabbed 2 3-drawer and 2 2-drawer. Hi there, Just thought I would inform you that in the UK, the tool boxes you are reviewing were first available in our DIY stores branded as JCB. A few years later the branding was rebranded Magnusson. At this point I noticed the RIGID branding. After lengthy research, I found the branding KETER. After careful research I found that KETER, Israel were making these boxes for everybody and anybody. Now here in the UK, they have been rebranded yet again to Erbaur. PERSONAL OPINION: Great boxes. I use them for all my fishing kit... except lately...my Carping kit is going into Milwaukee Packout. Superb for the terrain one has to cross.

I have about 30 pieces of the Gen 1 system, so it is pretty obvious that I like the system. I have all 3 of the currently available Gen 2 cases and so far like what I see. I used the Gen 2 wheeled cart on a job site a couple of weeks ago and it is definitely an improvement on the Gen 1 case. I'm currently looking to see if some of my current Gen 1 layouts would fit better in Gen 2 boxes, allowing me to retask the Gen 1s for other equipment. I saw a review where someone was complaining that they Gen 2 boxes are flimsy compared to Gen 1 and while they have reduced the thickness of the casting (which reduces the weight of the case), I haven't found any substantial changes to the rigidity of the Gen 2 boxes. Especially when they are closed and latched. But then, only time will tell.

I just ordered all 3 of these from Home Depot as part of their BF sale. $40 off for all 3 so the total price will be $150. They deliver them free of charge so it's much more convenient than picking them up in the stores. Plus you know no one has rummaged through your boxes taking the accessories that are supposed to come with them. I have the 1.0 system already so I'm glad they will be backwards compatible. I think the base rolling box is the best upgrade with the wheels and handle coming off so easily. But the hanging brackets intrigue me as well, so I'm interested to see how they work hanging on a wall. I saw the wheeled base box in the store and played with it a bit last week and liked what I saw. But I could tell some things were missing so that's why I didn't pull the trigger. Plus they had no price marked on them so I thought it would be best to order them online with any BF sale they might have.

They all have their advantages and disadvantages. I've looked at some of the others being offered on the market including Kobalt, Craftsman and T Stack and of course Flex. Didn’t watch the whole video, but kind of unsure about how long these boxes will last.. the handle and overall quality feels cheap and shakes a lot more than any other system I’ve bought.. the handle wiggles a lot side to side, the locking mechanisms to attach additional boxes kind of seems loose and willing to break free or break off and you don’t get any good inside storage pieces like with what comes with the Masterforce and identical Beaur Boxes from Harbor Freight. Overall the thickness of Ridgid boxes seems thinner than any others..

On a side note. I was complaining about having to unstack the boxes to get at the tools. Turns out you can get to all tools with the boxes stacked; you just clip them together on the side, remove the rolling handle, unclip the front and you can flip the tops open without unstacking them and reach for your tools.🤥 😂😂👍. The Gen 1 small top box, you can also flip the lid all the way open to have extra space to place tools..

a bit pricey when compared to the older models. wouldn't jump the gun. I tried the new rolling cart and yes it's an improvement, but I will wait when they have some kind of sale.

Oh man, I didn't know it was that bad over there! I've been trying to find the little organizer that they just released and it is not available either and I thought that was bad enough lol. Thanks for watching good luck!

what company owns Ridgid?
@thewoodshed18

@Edison A. So Ridgid boxes are made by TTI which is the same company that makes Milwaukee boxes. So there definitely is an expectation of higher quality with these Ridgid boxes.

Kind of stinks they rather include the useless wall mounts instead of giving some more organization inside the box… I have some Harbor Freight Baeur boxes and those came with a much better top tray that resembles a traditional one from tool boxes and you get two dividers in the Baeur with slots for tape measure, drill bits (big spade bits or larger wood drilling bits) aswell as areas for things like screwdrivers, pliers other hand tools and they give you a elastic strap to further hold those items…. Far more useful out of the box

Yeah, most people like myself had to go to multiple stores. If they don't have it on the floor, try giving the associate the SKU number to see if it's hiding on the top in boxes

I would agree that they have more options and possibly more durable boxes. However the price point of entry is a huge difference. With Ridgid being around $180 and Flex being $300, it just depends on your needs. Homeowner, diyer, small business owner, Ridgid. Contractor and up, Flex. Whatever is more cost effective. Thanks for watching!

Packouts are def the best hands down no denying it….only problem is no matter what case u buy they are insanely expensive….these Ridgid cases are prob the best bang for your buck….my only complaint with the 1.0 system was the wheels and especially the handle were so flimsy….i bent the handle in prob 2 months…looks like they’ve upgraded it on the 2.0s….def the way to go if you actually want to have money to buy tools to put in your tool box

That small box is a greay box, kinda could carry like a brief case... But,, poorly designed, it's obvious this needs a handle. Cmon Rigid, do better.
