Love your cast testing vids. Your the only person on the net that does a practical test of bfs gear. I fish alot with small jigs and bfs gear. Atomic tubes, crappie magnets, 2" hardtime minnows, 2.5" gitzits and various other micro soft bodies. Trout, smallmouth, largemouth, catfish, musky, drum, and pretty much anything that swims in a river will slurp small soft body jigs. It can be tuff to cast them do to them turning and catching wind mid air and braking systems not being able to adjust. When you get down below 1/8th air resistance makes more of a difference than weight. For exp. A 2.5 inch gitzit tube with a 1/32 once jig will cast easier than a 3.5" version. I have the hardest time casting the 1/16th ounce kietech mono spin jig. Even with a trailer. I hope your planning on putting the new Aldebaran to test to see if it will be worth the higher price?

Thank you for the informative review! I was wondering how that spool compares to the roro fixed inductor spools? I've been watching a lot of Japanese KZbinrs, and the last few on the water video's they seemed to like the Gekkabijin more overall. They did like the Silver Stream for close-range casting, however. I messaged the one gentleman, and on his next video he will compare the roro spool verse the factory spool. Thanks again for another great video

I think the Roro AX24 spool will perform better with lighter lures. Control definitely goes to Silver Creek stock spool. Distance can go to stock spool because of the control.

The problem with overhand casting is that your cast is not a flat trajectory but in an arch and less accurate for the short cast. I'm learning to roll cast for a more accurate cast with a low trajectory and less backlash.

Over arm casting would generally not apply to the short range trout fishing in mountain streams, which is the core of what this reel was developed for. Flip casting, backcasting, low trajectory casting is kind of the reason this style of reel was originally developed.
@vin18m
@vin18m 2 жыл бұрын
@@aklags I'm fishing for Australian Bass (in Australia obviously) and an overarm cast allows me to have my lure present as naturally as possible. I mostly fish Cicada imitations, and casting at a low trajectory means winged lures catch on the surface and create a messy landing, without that nice natural ""plop" that you'd expect from a real cicada - and which you get from a nice lob type cast. I can get extremely accurate with an overhand cast (Aldebaran BFS + custom Northfork short handle baitcaster). These are the conditions and techniques I fish with, only reason I asked.
