I think of the Ruger PC series as centerfire 10/22s, and I think they make sense in that context. You get a reliable, simple, and relatively inexpensive plinking gun, from a well-established company with good aftermarket support, just like the 10/22, but without the magazine issues that plague .22LR autoloaders, and it's also chambered in a cartridge that's much more viable for home defense and more effective for practical suppressed use.

Important note: the way you described that handguard, it will also help dissipate the heat from the barrel quicker and act like a heat sink which in turn would help the longevity and accuracy of the barrel. I had my sights set on the CZ, but when the Ruger came out at $250 less, it was my choice. Sure a $2500 gun is probably easier to shoot. Also, if you compare the balance of the two, you should put the can on both. I know the Ruger is heavier on the barrel, but probably not as drastic as you said since you had the can on the Ruger, but not on the others. I have had mine for about two weeks. It took me a week to get the SB brace in. I am adding a cheaper red dot. For me it was the right choice. I have several CZs and several Rugers. I like sticking with what I know. Cheers.

@@Jebusite100 Yeah of course. Everybody has their own philosophy of use for their specific firearm, and I respect that. For those that are looking at the PC Charger as a backpacking/hiking gun, or for the survivalist, SHTF crowd, you need good backup iron sights in case your electrical sights go down (i.e. dead batteries, electrical failure, water damage, etc). A good set of backup irons go a long ways and are less likely to fail and don't require batteries. I honestly think a good set of backup iron sights are a must for all "serious use" firearms, whether they are handguns, or PCCs, or rifles. the reason the SP5 doesn’t have a red dot on it is probably because the SP5 / MP5 actually comes with sights. I don’t know why when Ruger came out with the chassis system they decided to screw the sights & then make the gun to were you can’t put iron sights on the gun even if you wanted to.

Good news about the Stribog A3

Bought the EVO 3 S1, traded for an Fx9 and CZP10C. The chasis version of this is still cool to with a very nice trigger and tungsten bolt. Nose heavy keeps you on target.

The SP9A1 is not on close out. They will continue to sell it after the A3 is released which is a ~$300 more expensive model. Also, East Valley Tactical is selling a pre-order of the Charger for only $600!

One of the biggest things for me is the use of the Glock mags. I’m not paying HK or anybody else 2000+ dollars for a gun they want to hit me for 50 $60 magazines that you can’t find

I prefer a longer bolt travel as recoil is much more mild. The tech 9 is a good example of a 9 with a short bolt travel and stiff recoil.

Cost is about the same as a Scorpion pistol (without the brace). Seems the only benefit here is that it's a takedown pistol. That being said, a Scorpion with folded brace will already fit just about anywhere. And the Scorpion is (subjectively) a much better looking gun.
@EasyMoneySG4 жыл бұрын
And aftermarket support for the Scorpion is pretty good already.

Scorpions are a better quality than ruger pc9s as well If you've taken down a pc9, that bolt assembly is multiple little pieces that are a nightmare to keep track of The scorpion is just one massive piece, much easier to clean/ maintain

You can go from pistol to rifle, but not the other way.
@COIcultist4 жыл бұрын
@@colsoncustoms8994I've posted this question elsewhere but I'd like an industry opinion or preferably knowledge. I'm curious about this even though it doesn't relate to me as I'm a UK resident. I thought mere possession of some things if combined became illegal. So could you posses the Charger and get a carbine barrel for it as it's still a pistol? You couldn't do the reverse without a tax stamp but what if you own both charger and carbine? Does possession of combinations that could become a short barrelled rifle make it so by nature of owning both?

Tim....What the Ruger offers that its other competitors doesn't offer is quite a bit more than just the takedown feature....what the Ruger offers is a lot more bang for the buck. The PRICE POINT for the Ruger is MUCH less than the H&K SP5...Less than the Stribog, Less than the Sig,....The closest to the price point is the Scorpion EV9 which has one of the worst triggers possible in this class. The Ruger PC Charger costs less than the Scorpion and the Trigger is AWESOME. The quality of the gun is almost on par with an MP5 /SP5. It is a tack driver and built like a tank with an excellent trigger. And if you are using a can the takedown feature is really nice to make the gun compact for traveling. My only complaint is not the weight but instead the lack of a great set of iron sights

I own a Ruger PC model 19122 9mm carbine tactical. It is stunningly good! Built strong for durability, with a delayed blockback system, a floating Mlok handguard hardcoat anodized, with collapsible stock and pistol grip, and a cold hammer-forged, chrome-moly steel barrel with ultra-precise rifling providing exceptional accuracy, the barrel is fluted and nitride coated for rust protection. It is VERY accurate, way less noise than the 5.56 cal, with less over traveling and over penetration issues. The Ruger PC 19122 is the finest home defense weapon system, excellent for personal protection and security.

The PC Charger, like a lot of these, is one of those guns that would benefit well from a vertical foregrip. Too bad NFA laws complicate that process

A slightly angled foregrip should be compliant.

The mag well on the PC Charger acts like a built in angled foregrip, bring the hand stop back a little and you have a snug fit.

@ALL HAIL SATAN I see. Yes, the NFA should be abolished. But it hasn't been yet. So I was simply pointing out a way around the issue. I see nothing shameful there. You may as well call everyone who complies with the NFA shameful. By the way, your username sucks!

Wish Ruger would offer it with a 8 inch barrel. That's the optimum point of 9mm barrel length velocity without sacrificing mobility. Especially since the gun breaks down with the push of a button.

Pretty cool. I would definitely take just about any of the other options over it but at the price it is pretty cool and I would be more likely to actually buy the Ruger. I love these little 9mm carbines but I see them as more of a fun range toy. Obviously they do have their uses in a defensive capacity, but I would sooner buy a full on rifle calibre or a 5.7x28 at a similar length. I unfortunately don't really have any range toys as I can't bring myself to buy a weapon that is inferior to other options where it matters in a practical sense. If I had money to burn though, I would have one in a heartbeat...

I have a KT SUB2000, and a Freedom Ordinance FX-9. The KT takes Beretta 92 mags and for some reason, mags that cause my 92 fits work just fine in it. The FX-9 has the cheap Korean Glock mags and so far, it's been great. But I'm buying a PC Charger as soon as I pay some bills off. I shot one and liked it a lot and the takedown feature is done better than the Sub2000's is. I already bought a billet charging handle, mag release and a flash suppressor. Just for the value alone, the PC Charger is a great dea for the money. IMHO, a lot of the 9mm carbines are seriously overpriced.
