I was born in 1986, so I'm more Generation Y. It staggers me how people don't actually do the research. I was initially leaning towards Bernie in the primary until I actually did research and looked at both their plans. Bernie had a lot of glowing, pie-in-the-sky ideas but no real plan on how to actually do it. Hillary, meanwhile, had 'the exact same ideas' in smaller steps that might actually have a chance (no guarantee, but a chance) to get through Congress, and all comprehensively laid out. Even today, when I read her platform, there is absolutely nothing about it that I disagree with. I became a Hillary supporter then, and continue to be. I hold no illusions of any kind of guarantee that her platform will pass Congress, just as there's no guarantee that Trump's insanely harmful platform will. But I'd rather see her fight and lose in Congress than him fight and win. If you do the actual research, you see that 90% of the things she's accused of are either completely false or overly-exaggerated. The other 10% are either honest mistakes she has acknowledged as such or the kinds of things people have to do to govern successfully - if you want people to negotiate, you start friendly and only bring the hammer down if they refuse to be civil/keep screwing you over. If Hillary sticks to what she's saying, and I have no reason to believe she won't regardless of whatever flaws she may or may not have, the absolute worst that we'll see is political stagnation due to Congress blocking. If Trump sticks to what he's been saying, said political stagnation is the best-case scenario. If you look at the facts of their positions, it's a no-brainer.

Well, there is a simple explanation why people don't pay no mind to politics...disappointment. Why spend hours on end analyzing the real "bullshit" when you might as well spend time on something you'd enjoy. There is a comradery in sports, it's in the players' best interest to win the game for the fans, on the other hand the politician doesn't think much of the "masses". The masses are just a tool for the politicians, and people know this. Some sports are rough, players curse and fight each other, but politics is a much more dirtier game....it's consequences are deadly (literally).
