I feel I have no right *because*, above all, I value the US Constitution. I wish we had one in the UK. If we had had a robust constitution, which clearly distinguished between ordinary policy and more deeply entrenched constitutional reform, then I believe, for example, both the decisions, to join the EEC, and to leave the EU, would have required large parliamentary majorities. Because I value the Constitution, I have to insist that Americans can vote for whoever they want to, for whatever reasons.That's democracy, in a republic. I must also trust, so long as that Constitution holds up, there is nothing to fear in the long run, whichever crazy or mobster gets voted into office.
