You guys will end up buying that Salford. We run one the same size and we love it. We pull ours with a johndeere 9570 rt with ease at 10 to 12 mph . They leave an excellent seedbed and chew up corn stalks well . Thanks for a video every day chet and nikki Take care and stay safe!
@akkerron3 жыл бұрын
We have an older Salford that size and love it as well. Pull it with CIH9380, handles it well at 11-12mph, but the sweet spot seems to be 10.5 mph. We do no fall tillage on the cornstalks, one pass with the salford, then “no-till” soybeans with jd 1990 air drill. Very happy with this system in SE Minnesota. We have even planted corn on corn after 2 trips with the Salford over the stalks in the spring with excellent results.
@anthonybanda81923 жыл бұрын
@@akkerron yeah Salford makes great equipment that holds up great . We pull ours faster but our soils here in southern Michigan are light. We like the 10 to 12 mph speeds . If we do corn stalks or thick wheat stubble we do 2 passes the first at 10 mph then the second at 11 or 12 mph our ground is flat . We are trying to go away from chisel plowing and starting to do more vertical tillage and honestly the last 3 years it has worked great. We farm over 8000 acres and one less tillage pass is great . Plus with running at 10 mph we can stay ahead of the planters great . We double crop soybeans after winter wheat in late june/ early july and sometimes the wheat straw can be thick and difficult for the planter to go through . With double crop soybeans we only get a 2 week window to harvest and plant before time runs out and rain chances diminish. Take care!

Thanks for the interesting video Chet. Wow, that demo field ripper is huge. Heavy duty everything. The tires are like truck type tires. The entire setup is designed to mix up some ground. I am guessing that it will do a great job. Like how all the settings can be controlled with hydraulic hoses to include the rear baskets. That is a nice feature. I am guessing the field rep will show you guys lot of things you can do with this rig from the tractor seat. Very nice piece of equipment. Will look forward to the video that shows us what it can do in the field. Nice!!!! You idea to have these hand wash tanks on the planters is top shelf. You did good suggesting this to the company. Putting soybeans in the ground already is kind of early don’t you think. You know your ground the best , so I will go with what you think will work. Thanks for showing us the bunk house. Looks good. Nice place for

Man the field equipment is getting so big! Farmers will have to increase the size of the driveways into the fields and the gates in the fence lines to be able to fit these monsters through! Back when I was a kid on the farm, everything was geared to four or eight rows at a time.
