Looks like a great setup. A couple of years ago I started thinking my hunting handgun was too heavy to carry. So I spent a couple days carrying my 1886 with 26 inch octagon barrel. You know it turns out that 6.5" model 29 is super lightweight😂. Great video!

@PassivePortfolios8 ай бұрын
That is one heck of a hunting rig set up ! Perfect and not too heavy so it is easy to tote around. You nailed it when you mentioned the excessive weight of some of the double action hunting revolvers in .44 mag. and even more powerful cartridges. This why I too prefer single action revolvers for hunting, with 2x scopes or iron sights. I have a Ruger Blackhawk Bisley in .357 mag. 7.5" barrel, with a 2x scope which is accurate at 50 yards with 180 grain bullets, if I do my part. Thanks for the video showing off your hunting revolver.

My model 57 is my go-to revolver for handgun hunting deer, I've hunted with and without optics, i prefer optics and have taken deer both ways. One year i had taken a buck with my bow, then my handgun in doe season, and my old 44-40 with my extra tag, in PA. we have certain areas we hunt for crop damage. Can't say which one was more challenging, but for sure my 140 yr old 1873 Winchester was a blast. yins take care down there!

Completely agree with you on your comparison on the Redhawk and Blackhawk. I prefer the Blackhawk for hunting, as well. Also had no idea they stopped making handgun scopes... wonder if that's because of the growing popularity of red dots for handguns (not my thing). Would love to see you come up to the Saltillo, TN, Tennessee River Rendezvous on 12-13 April. Guarantee you'd see some interesting firearms there, since it will cover French Indian War up through Vietnam. It's free.

You're probably right about the red dot gaining popularity having something to do with the apparent decline of magnified scopes for handguns Good info on the rendezvous. Thanks!
