What’s old is new again! Who else likes to fish egg clusters or was a fan of the original okie drifter or gooey bobs?

I found about 50 okies at a garage sale 10 or so years ago, 10 cents apiece.😊 Once in a while, I break one out. Now I won't have to! Sweet!

That's a gooey Bob, the hard plastic version is a okie drifter. Yeah I'm old.
@disillusioned07011 ай бұрын
I used to fish these with my grandfather back in the day (late 70's thru late 80's). Before he passed he gave me a box of probably over a 1000 of them. All different sizes and colors. Some were Styrofoam like corkies, while others were hard, translucent plastic.If I remember correctly the originals were the hard, translucent, 2-piece ones and the top and bottom were actually glued together. I still like to use them sometimes but sadly I'm running low on the old school ones but somedays when fishing is slow I will still pull one out and use it. And sometimes I still catch a steelhead on them. Cheers from a Tillamook native.

About a month and a half ago while fishing, a fellow steelhead fisherman happened to give me a few of these to try. The guy only had a gallon bag of them.... lol. He said they were the new hot ticket. Since I drift fish beads a lot not under floats I gave them a shot. I have hooked 3 or 4 fish on them in the times I ran them. I only had 2 samples to try. But they are effective.

Is there different buoyancy levels?
@ElevatedFishing11 ай бұрын
They are neutrally buoyancy soft baits. We may make a super float version in the future but from all of our testing our currently plastisol mixture fished extremely well both drift fished as well as under a float.

I don’t understand the benefit of using a sinker slide, when float fishing..it seems to me that the weight of the sinker is going to ride down hard on the swivel when a Steelhead takes the bead, cluster, jig or bait..so the idea of the line sliding freely thru the sinker slide when a fish bites, and the fish not feeling resistance can’t be the case
@ElevatedFishing10 ай бұрын
It’s more for when the fish are shaking their head and doing cartwheels. The sliding weight allows it to move freely up and down the line helping keep fish from breaking the leader. When you have a fixed weight and the fish gets close to the bank their head shakes can cause the weight to put a lot of pressure on your leader.

You guys need a dedicated filmmaker. It’s kinda hard to watch this with the video angles and cameras in all the shots. Just my 2 cents

@@ElevatedFishing definitely and that river restoration they done has greatly enhanced that river. In fact this afternoon a CHROME CHINOOK WAS CAUGHT A WARDEN HELD THAT GUY UP TO KEEP THE FISH SO A COUPLE BIOLOGISTS COULD GRAB SCALE SAMPLES OFF OF IT.. THEN THEY RELEASED IT PRETTY AWESOME..
