I've caught many big snappers to 15kg. Paternoster rig, and like you said, a just sinker to suit the current. The lighter, the better. I'm from South Australia, hence spoilt for the bigger fish. Live bait works well

Agee totally, I've been using the same rig without the lumo accessories for 15 years...best snap went 9.5kg fishing on the Nightbeat out of Tin Can Bay on Keeley's reef.👍👍👍👍👍

How do you change over your sinker if it’s too heavy or light? I usually run gang looks and float baits down and it’s very easy to change the sinkers, cut just above the hook and retie with a uni knot. However in this technique if you need to swap over sinkers you’d have to redo the entire rig? Maybe I’m missing something.

you cut off at the top near the swivel and just retie after the change

@@donninguyen5237 I assumed you would not run a swivel and have the rig run straight from your leader/main line? Would the swivel not mess up the sink of the bait? Or would you just run like a super light 40lb swivel so it wouldn’t affect the sink?

No mate I don't retie the rig, If I need to change the sinker I just cut off my leader from the main line and retie it. It can be a little slow redoing a FG knot but thats the way I do it. You can use a swivel but like you said use a small one so it doesn't interfere with the sink rate.

been using that rig for awhile now works well but i 100% agree its more about getting the sinker size right to big your on the bottom to fast to light and your out in nowhere
