In the olden days the grain mill was most often the “Heart” of a community. Here at Metcalf Mills our goal is not only the preservation and education of the grain milling process, but also to help provide a service and products that help make good, healthy, fresh milled goods more available to individuals and communities. And hopefully bring back some of that “Heart” and maybe a little more Love.

Enjoyed the video Justro. You have the patiences of Job. I couldn't do it. That is a lost art for sure. Bear was sure enjoying him some meal. That is interesting the New South Mill was made in Winston Salem. Thats just 45 minutes from me and that other mill you have shown in the past was made in Ronda, just 10 minutes away and Meadows Mill is 30 minutes away. Thanks for the video. You take care and God bless,

Have you ever just set back and thought about what somebody was thinking thousands of years ago when they came up with the idea of using 2 rocks to grind grain up to eat. It’s amazing to me how most inventions come from everyday use. Looks like the boss was keeping you on your toes and hear really seemed to like the cornmeal lol

Nice work! How about that, my first experience with a Meadows mill was a sawmill, and here New South came from JA Vance, I've run several of their woodworking machines. Turning raw material into something everyone can use must be what gets in our blood, and in our pockets and boots.

So sweet when you knock back those high spots and get the stones properly mated to each other. How many years can a dressing last?
@metcalfmills5679
@metcalfmills5679 Жыл бұрын
It depends on many variables. Some need dressed once a month, some once a year, it all depends. Thank you!

Fascinating. After dressing the stones several times do you have to deepen the groves? How long from start to finish did this take.?
@metcalfmills5679
@metcalfmills5679 Жыл бұрын
Yes the grooves have to be deepened from time to time. I will have more on that in the future. It can take from 1-3 days, depending on how bad they have been neglected. This one took 2 days.
