The great one from the far north - DSB's most beautiful steam locomotive was the class (Litra) E. Its origin lies with eleven Pacific express locomotives of the Swedish state railways of the F series, which retired from service there in 1937 due to increasing electrification. The DSB was able to take over these locomotives with their high tractive effort and then added them to their stock as E 964-974. From 1940, the DSB urgently needed more powerful steam locomotives and so they now had 25 locomotives of the E series rebuilt at Frichs in Aarhus as E 975-999 with minor improvements. Until the 1960s, the Pacifics were used for passenger and goods trains, but then one after the other had to be sidelined. However, several machines were preserved, including the E 991 as an official DSB museum locomotive.

A beauty! Hopefully it will appear as the Swedish F in due time. That locomotive was apparently inspired by the Württemberg C, both small compound Pacific passenger locomotives. The F 1200 was involved in the worst railway accident in Sweden, October 1, 1918, when the ground under the embankment near Getå collapsed due to heavy rain. 42 persons died, many were wounded, mostly burned when the wooden carriages caught fire. The F 1200 was recovered, later sold to Denmark but today a Swedish museums locomotive.

7 survives 2 has been build back to Swedish f class so I think that the rest are frichs made which has stayed in dk whith one exception
