I color coated the font of my place in just base 100 and it looks super fly tnt . I would do sections in cloudy cool weather but last winter I waited months for a cloudy day and not one came....sunny california...yippie, so I had to finish the last section before the summer heat. So as a result there's one cold joint that is faintly off from the rest and was wondering if I should fog coat it or just leave it well enough alone.

Howdy Bleach House Dude, congratulations on your success by watching and paying attention. FYI, you can apply color coats in 100 or more degrees of sun and heat, but if you do, make certain that the walls are soaked early on in the morning and kept moist or drenched until ready to color. It may day a day to dry, but this prevents bleaching or ghosting, It takes practice. To answer your question, I'd leave it alone, as you no doubt will be the only one who will notice it, and a week from now, you won't, Cheers. 😉

I see 90 lbs base coats in Home Depot but noticed you said for every 94 lbs base, you use 2 lbs of color. May I apply color to 90lbs and get similar color to yours? My contractor never used color in cement stucco but taking a chance with him hehe

Here in New England its called red stucco tape... It can stay on a window frame for many days, and doesn't leave the sticky glue residue when you take it off like duct tape would...

Hi Kirk, love your videos; I have a three coat rock lath ceiling hole to patch, and was wondering if I abut to the original plaster with diamond veneer if I’ll have a noticeable seem? Or do you think I should use 20 minute mud and taping compound to feather it out afterwards? I’d prefer to keep it close to Integrity to the original finish which is about 3/8 rock lath, 1/2” structolite and 1/8” of veneer. Hi Donald, you can use any of these materials, including structo-lite. A wet trowel makes structo-lite smooth but takes practice. Want more strength, use a lime finish plaster such as Diamond or Imperial made by USG. You might have to google plastering yards near me to find this lime plaster.🍾

In an older video you demonstrated that you needed to thin the weld-crete with water for a thin color coat overlay or that finish would spider crack and look like alligator skin as it dries. I know that Larsons say not to, but your demonstration showed otherwise. Do you still thin the weld-crete??

Hello Kirk I had a question. I have smooth stucco on my house and want to paint it but I wanted to fix all the cracks on it. I see on the videos you like to use Mor-Flexx but I’m afraid that it has too much sand for my smooth finish. Do you recommend I use Elostopatch? Whatever I use I want to make sure that when I paint the walls that it’s not shinier on the cracks due to the product used in the cracks

I have a maintenance free stucco finish and i went to fix some cracks and underneath it has a heavy duty elastomeric paint with cracks.If i wanted to change the color do i need to have the new finish and elastomeric paint removed to do it right or do you just go over everything with new color.

I love the fade of the stucco caused by the sun. However, how can I lighten my stucco color under my porch that does not get any sun to help match?

@@sheliabolwahnn9786 Not really, the sun will naturally lighten it as the years go by. You can fog coat it but that’s takes lots of training. One could even fog coat it with a teaspoon of bleach mixed in 2 gallons of water. But this also requires a master at fog coating. It would be like accidentally pouring Clorox bleach on blue Jean pants then washing them if one try’s this without a lot of time in. You can simply paint it😉

I've been an EIFS contractor for 32 years in the NorthEast... With Dryvit, STO, etc systems your options are wash and re-color with their color coatings... STO has a paint called "Lotusan", which is really incredible stuff - a little pricey but so good... To change texture you need to rte-skim the whole place with base coat and re-finish with new color/texture... Hope this helped and hopefully I didn't butt-in with my 2 cents... LOL

Howdy Robert, as a rule, dry-vit is coated with acrylics. Acrylic stucco finishes kind of means a rubber top coat. Kirk, Love what you do! If color coating over naked stone/ pebble dash, would you need to use a binding sgent? The surface being already rough stucco should bond to the new coat, correct?

@@SalettaRocks Pressure wash and roll on a bonding agent, better safe than sorry. Nothing adheres to a dusty surface.

Apply weld-create full strength as it says on the cans, however, when we professionals use it for bonding stucco colors will sometimes dilute it for our needs. @@ekim8958 stucco has two different base coats, one is white called base 100 for lighter colors. The other is base 200 which is grey stucco, used for darker colors. You’d be taking a chance on colors unless they also sell the color pacs.

@@IEoutlaw909 No as it’s already set, you can try spraying, or rubbing bleach on the walls as bleach will lighten almost anything or discolor stuff. You didn’t hear this from me. 😉

@@IEoutlaw909 Spray it lightly at first with a Hudson sprayer or backyard sprayer used for spraying bugs. Wait a while then if you light the lightning effect you can go heavier. It’s like poring Clorox bleach on blue Jeans.

The company that did the stucco asked me if I wanted it burned more or kept more white, at the time the burn looked good but after it cured there’s more white with little grey or burn areas. I like the suede look I have it but it’s very light

@@IEoutlaw909 you don’t need to scrub and areas as that won’t do any good, in fact that would not give the desired effect your looking for. Try wetting the wall with your garden hose, then once it’s moist, not dropping wet, spay the bleach in various areas then wait until the next day to see the effects. Clorox bleaches all colors big time except, you guessed it, white. So experiment a bit before you go hog wild.

Hello my friend, excellent question. The fact is, 90% of homes in the world don't have weep or drip screeds. My home didn't either. It's not a big deal. In stucco language a knockdown dash means you throw or spray on a dash finish, then use a trowel to lightly go over that finish. Good question.
