The reason why you were softlocked in world 2 castle is that the level is hard coded with the multi path gimmick. Replacing the level in any way, including edits will softlock the game. The only way to continue at this point would be either keep the castle as is or put a secret exit level on 1-3 or 2-6. Great video btw.

@@siyahseeker I think they pretty much revamped the whole game, like maybe either none of the levels are the same as in Vanilla or they just skipped the file of that castle,left no way to access it and just left it to chill in the code, just some possibilities because I don't know about modding enough.

@@Mortimer_RS I think they avoided it up until the final castle. In the files of "New Super Mario Bros. Wii", every castle is formatted as "0[world]-24.arc", while in Newer Wii, the "24" is replaced with 25, except for Bowser's Keep, which has the filename "08-24.arc"

If anyone is confused about 2-castle, the level wasn't meant to be changed since it is hard coded to be a autoscroll level. So in this case, you might need to go on a 100% save file and go to world 3

The lava for level 8-3 is hard coded to make liquids (mostly lava, but also water, poison water, quicksand) have rippling wave effects (not shown at 2-Battle at 15:20). Level 2-Castle is hard coded to have loops if one goes through the wrong path. This can create glitches, which I have observed before. As for the sound effects, they are often shorter because of the replaced audio file not having enough data signals to match the dedicated audio file (which can be mitigated by using a brsar patcher). Some levels have two overlapping music files, for yoshi (no drums) and yoshi (drums), and the last level just so happens to contain two music files, one for before bowser reaches lava, and one for after. One more thing is the P switch is in mono audio format, so having a stereo audio format replacing the p switch noise tends to glitch the sound (trust me, i've made errors while modding)

However pswitch doesn't (or at least shouldn't) have a right ear, (mono equalises left and right channels) so it plays obfuscated garbage as it doesn't decipher it properly. I'm not sure, but that is likely the case.
