That intro cinematic looks awful compared to 1, 2, and even 3's. It looks too refined, the rough sketches of the others, combined with the splotches, just works so well. Marcus also seems uninterested. In 2's intro, you can hear him say certain words quieter and slower for dramatic effect, and just the way he says Handsome Jack's name is incredibly foreboding, it sounds amazing. This just sounds like Bruce DuBose reading a script.

TBF, Tales did set him up as a good guy even after he took over and resurrected Atlas. He didn't become a monster, he just got a bit of an ego; his experiences with "Jack" gave him a good impression of what not to be.

I think animation wise a lot of stuff was mocapped which is fine but looks weird sometimes, especially the choking scenes they look ridiculous idk about the art style though it's like realistic and cartoony at the same time but the style is inconsistent with some characters like the hank guy looks like he's from borderlands 2 with the lack of details in his face or maybe that's the game struggling to render things bc i noticed that a lot too

the best character is the assassin robot Lou13. a couple critiques: why do non-pandorans use skag as a turn of phrase? I thought skags were endemic to pandora and not a galaxy wide animal. The comedy can be good, but it is outwashed by slow dialogue. Hank's interaction was just sad, and slow...

The skag phrase was a problem present in Borderlands 3 as well (not necessarily reserved for skags, I think Pandoran wildlife in general was mentioned everywhere). There are even danger signs with skags on them all over the galaxy, and a lot of skag statues on Gehenna.

Oh my Gosh, somebody thought that borderlands was the narrative fountain of which to draw upon the foundation of an adventure game.. I mean.. like they they were like, yeah this is a rich setting that I can tell stories with that don't involve a immediate feedback loop Skinner box... And then they made, like they made the whole thing.. like at no point it seems in the development process where they like, yeah I think I think we peel the layers of this onion and and we found styrofoam and there was one layer.. not even enough to make us cry as a futility... And then they just kept going, like I guess we're we're making styrofoam now! This is the spray painted fruit shaped styrofoam of adventure games... With like magic money tax shelter art installation budget and intrinsic real world value.. like it's not even paper mache.. it's just that crap that granulates everywhere.. and you can't tell what's like foam dust or or glitter cuz somebody doused it in glitter after spray painting it before putting it into a paper bag and... I'm just not sure which part happened first.

If I see any other insults in these comments, I’m rioting. I love how awkward and boring some of these characters are, while people that we played in the first three are far more god like/revered. It makes the characters we played look really cool and humanizes the characters were currently playing. Plus, this is far more accurate to how real life works- people are *not* cool and are *extremely* boring. This I think has a good balance between real life and, well, borderlands.
