In Australia Range Rover is king.....if you're a woman or middle aged man who fanticises about the receptionist and dreams up extravagant scenarios where he gets to drop her home after a work do in Sydney city. Anywhere else, towing caravans or horses, crossing croc infested rivers, thousands of kms of corrugations, sand, bulldust, rock, 45 c outside, expected to last 1 million kms with basic maintenance in the back yard and maybe pull a road train or two out of a boggy dirt road, its Land cruiser.

I would never compare a Land Cruiser with a Land Rover that falls apart when almost brand new. My neighbor has had a Land Cruiser for 22 years and it's still going strong. He owns a small company that cuts wood in some remote forests so it gets driven off-road and abused a lot. He even crashed it once and destroyed the front bumper. Despite 22 years of abuse, it's still going strong. How long would a Land Rover last?
@hedydd26 жыл бұрын
Well I had a Land Rover working on the farm and towing 3.5 tons regularly for 22 years and 12,000 hours of use, which was equivalent to around 350,000 road miles, and another few for around 10 years each. I've also got a Land Cruiser 100 1HD FT-E, bought new, which is 20 years old in September this year and has nearly 200,000 miles on the clock. I'm off now to hitch up the 14ft triple axle trailer to it and will tow two loads of 3.5 tons each, approximately 56 miles. A job that the old Land Rover 110 HiCap pickup used to do. A job now shared with a Ford Ranger.

If you call this a Toyota Land Cruiser (without adding the word Prado to it) here in the UAE, people will literally laugh at you. Here, the Prado is considered just a lower-end alternative to the Land Cruiser, and it never gets the respect or esteem of its higher tier brother. The Land Cruiser (the non-Prado one), on the other hand, is on a whole new level of recognition and popularity. People consider it the King of 4×4s (Patrol fans will surely disagree tho).
@hedydd26 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree. The 120-150 series Prado is a pale imitation of the 100-200 series. Unfortunately they have stopped importing the 200 series into the UK because it is uncompetitive in our conditions with the Range Rover and it is just too big and bulky for the room available inside for passengers. Both big and 'small' Land Cruiser are not actually very roomy inside. My Ford Ranger has as much room in the second row are does my 100 series Cruiser. The cruiser also lacks payload capacity while the smaller Cruiser lacks towing capacity and power in the overwhelmingly popular diesel form [here in Europe]

Dallas Grantley No, the full size land cruiser is a LX (which the full size is in the USA as well), the Prado is available in the USA as the Lexus GX

This and the full Land Cruiser are the ultimate off-road, go-anywhere and come back from anywhere SUVs. The real deal and not some lame car park dwelling suburban crawling glorified station wagon such as Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover.

I once drove a 2017 Prado in North Africa ( Sudan ), road was full of massive potholes, rocks, sands, cracks and all sort of things. Prado drove on the road like a champ! Never enjoyed driving a car like driving a Prado, its an absolute beast! Going through potholes the Prado felt like a tank, going through any massive puddle of waters it was nothing for the Prado, the list goes on and on. I even had a small accident where someone (impatience) hit the right side pumper, fortunately his car took more damage and the Prado was like WASSUP. It honestly amasses me how Toyota managed to make such a legend SUV. If Toyota start selling medication, no one would be ever sick!

I thought the only difference was styling and the drivetrain

I'm born and raised in Namibia. When we drive in the dunes or the beach with our VW Amarok we deflate the tyres to 1.2 bar. Makes a world of difference. On the tar road they will be between 2 and 2.5 bar.

@@ingo7908 so Ingo, aren't you German? But you don't have any accountability for actions of your forefathers. Also German refused any crimes occured till 100 years later.

@@simona4315 You conclude that I must be German solely based on my name even though I already stated the opposite in my initial comment. That's quite the assumption. I made a comment on a car video. It's strange that you felt the need to comment what you did. Do you also respond with "holocaust" on every Germany related video? Anyways, I'm definitely not going to debate a historic event with some random person on the internet.
@simona4315 Жыл бұрын
@@ingo7908 there's no debate to be had. Germany committed genocide in Namibia. You're living in Namibia and still benefiting from fruits of crime and colonialism.
