The fuel cap is for security. Landcruisers are actually used by owners the correct way, which includes travelling around the world and in remote places where fuel theft happens a lot when you leave your vehicle parked somewhere. The gap in the back seats helps in the circulation of air when in hot climes, from Australia to Africa. Everything is well thought out and there for a reason, not all cosmetic. This isn’t a Range Rover which has lost its touch. They say, “The car infront is always a Toyota”, for a reason. 👍

People tent to look only at what's right in front of them and not at the long term. Toyota is one of the few brands that still builds cars with that long term in mind. A new Landy 110 writes off up to 50% of it's retail value in it's first 2 month of ownership. Given that the fancier models are almost twice the price of this GR LC you've just throw out one of them over wanting to look good at your next board meeting. Everything in the premium car market revolves around short term luxury looks or feels, not durability. Just the Toyota badge alone will turn several people (including the reviewer here) off of the car. Toyota's tank uses a lever-type fuel filler port. The lever-type refueling port is a method of unlocking the refueling port with a wire from the driver's seat, and is said to be highly reliable. In recent cars, the number of fuel filler openings that can be opened with one touch in conjunction with the door lock is increasing, and this is thought to be due to improvements in design and convenience. However, the lever-type fuel filler port also has its merits. For example, even if the door lock breaks down, it can be refueled, and it can be used to prevent theft.

The actuator may be fine, but the cap won´t release because of dirt when you push it. It´s not a deal breaker, but Toyota´s approach simply can´t fail.

It seems that Mat had to REALLY look into the car to find 5 annoying things. And even then that fuel cap one was a head scratcher because why in the hell would you want anyone to open the fuel cap so easily? I think that having the mechanical lever on the inside is a good security measure

If you want something for the same price Mat recommends the Range Rover XD. After the monthly repair costs it will cost twice as much though. To be fair I guess if you're buying something like this repair costs aren't really concerning.

I'm looking to import one of these from Japan as a family bus. Fact is this will be more reliable and will last a lot longer than a Range Rover or the Germans. Not a fan of the Prado Landcruiser offered in the UK. Test drove one and the D4-D engine in that is a bit underpowered if you ask me. It' the same engine Toyota uses in the Hilux.
@baronvonjo1929 Жыл бұрын
I like my 4runner. Idk why they made the Prado instead of just giving yall the Lexus GX or 4runner. Do they have different engines?
@Nordheide Жыл бұрын
Not underpowered for what these vehicles are built for. The new engines are a lot more powerful, but also more complicated which could result in less reliability. If you’d pay for a LC300 but you want your grandchildren to be able to drive it, buy a facelifted 200 V8.
@baronvonjo1929 Жыл бұрын
You know I just looked up the Prado and I just got even more confused on what's going on with the Prado, GX, and 4runner.
@Nordheide Жыл бұрын
@@baronvonjo1929 Lmao the Prado is what you get around the world and what everybody wanted. Americans only got the 200 series instead (so all the fat people could fit in). The 4Runner is American only. No one needs that cause the Prado is everywhere. Oh and everyone loves Diesel engines except for most Americans.
@baronvonjo1929 Жыл бұрын
@stef No need for the xenophobia. I don't know if the Prado was ever offered here because we already had the 4runner. I wasn't alive when the Prado and 4runner started and how they picked the markets. Toyota picked it for us. Not us being weird or anything. I wouldn't say we got the 200 series cause we are fat. The Japanese designed it. So does that make them fat? Americans have always preferred big cars even in the 50s when we were less fat. It just the culture and preferences that have been around for decades. Also cheap gas. Speaking of which Cheap gas also made lots of diesels kinda redundant I think. Also from what I know Oldsmobile had a huge controversy in the 80s with diesels that help turn more Americans off from it from my understanding. Then VW killed it. Now it's only trucks that have ot offered.

Some of the differences between this LHD/UAE model compared to our RHD/Australian model are quite odd - such as this one having a third row, whereas ours doesn’t. Also weird that there are two other engine configurations - we only get the TTV6, which is the only engine I would consider for this car
@nammalilleee3207 Жыл бұрын
Its always weird. For eg: They charge you for metallic paint in UAE for defender 130 but in Australia they don't. However, the there are some options that are free in Australia but Optional in UAE

Was sooo hyped for the GR badge and what they would do with it. The GR86 rebrand was great and added some extra stuff to the gt86. The GR Yaris/Corolla was crazy and amazing. Then we had the supra. The GR badge was going to be something good, something you "omg i want that GR model" but now i feel like they just made the GR badge like the MBW M badge. Just slap the badge on it and hike up the price with the "hype". Disappointed
