Wonderful catch of the new Norfolk Southern Triple Crown train in Homer, Illinois, Jaw Tooth! Those are new green containers that they are using along with the old Triple Crown silver trailer. If you look at the spine cars you can see that there are green 53-foot containers on those cars. The container that appears at 3:28 is attached to a container chassis. That grain elevator in Homer, Illinois must ship out a lot of loaded covered grain hopper cars that it needs to have its own GP engine to move the cars for loading. I looked at Google Maps. It looks like the grain elevator complex has two tracks that extend east for at least a half mile parallel to the Norfolk Southern tracks. You must have caught that Canadian National grain train before you arrived in Homer, Illinois since the Canadian National mainline is west of Homer, Illinois. That abandoned road railroad crossing south of Danville, Illinois gave us a surprise train meet. That train meet was a wonderful catch. Thank you, Jaw Tooth, for stopping in Homer, Illinois to catch the new Triple Crown service on Norfolk Southern and for the other two locations where you were able to catch trains. The blue Bunge locomotive #103 is a GP16, which was a rebuild from GP7's and GP9's, done about 1979 by Seaboard Coast Line in the Uceta shops in Tampa, Florida. They were updated in several respects and were/are great locomotives to this day. They were conservatively rated at 1600hp; were possibly more like 1800hp. Intermountain Railways has recently come out with HO scale GP16's, although not in the Bunge paint scheme that I recall. Thanks for another great video, Brian.

Interesting that *Norfolk Southern* currently appears to be moving _Triple Crown Services (TCS)_ equipment exclusively using spine cars with most of the green TCS (patched former EMP) containers mounted on road chassis. Once sufficient containers are acquired to fully replace and retire the white _RoadRailer_ trailers, it will be interesting to see if they transition to double stacked TCS containers in well cars for NS trains 251 and 252. From what I remember in the late 90s early 2000s at a local hobby shop the staff would inform people that Triple Crown had used containers earlier when the Mark 4 version of the Roadrailers were in short supply because they were still on order with Wabash National and I believe around that time Norfolk Southern started up their EMP containerized services.

Back in the 1980's a a kid we would use railroad crossing to get across major highways. There was always a metal bed railing on either side of the tracks. Very interesting to see the opening train with new Triple Crown intermodal containers, some of which were mounted on truck-trailer chassis. To say, however, that "RoadRailer" was "abandoned by Norfolk Southern" is a bit harsh, nearly false. Take a close(r) look at the "TC" train (of mostly-green) containers you just recorded...there's quite a few WHITE Triple Crown trailers "in the mix", as well!! Those, my friend, are former RoadRailer units. What "made" RoadRailer "RoadRailer" were the unique two-axle railcar "bogies" that connected one truck trailer to another. Without the "bogies", these modified highway trailers can still ride the rails upon spine cars and even "old school" TOFC ("Trailer-On-Flat-Car") equipment, a.k.a. "piggyback" (for those old enough, like me, to recall). Many older Triple Crown trailers ended-up in the hands of Milestone Equipment, who leased the aged trailers to United Parcel Service during Christmas seasons to absorb the surge of online shipments...a common sight on many CSX and NS intermodal trains, every year. Re: the Illinois scenes (versus your visits in Ohio)...very different "feel"...wide-open spaces, almost "lonely" by comparison. Enjoy it all, though...thank you. 👌👌👍👍
