As a mobile hunter in ohio chasing whitetails 4 months out of the year, or elk in wyoming once every 5 years, I'm very attracted to that arrow being secured up front, as well as it needing to be fully snapped into place before firing. The hand crank is brilliant. I might be able to sell my wife on the "safety" of this new model😊

So I went with a friend a checked these new crossbows out first hand. First off, I am not a rookie archer with bow or crossbow. I am damn near 50 and got my first buck at 15 with my original Horton Supermag that I still own today. Were these crossbows impressive? Yes. The tech was very interesting. However, I have to say that having demoed them, they have some major design flaws that I have to tell you all about. And if you don't believe me, go ask one of the sales folks at TenPoint. First off, they can be super dangerous. Dude cut off his finger in the pully system a week before I demoed the TRX myself in those elaborate pulley systems when he left his supporting hand's thumb too close to the rail when he fired. Pretend to hold one and just imagine that you didn't tuck your thumb in. These contraptions are also uber high maintenance. They tell you 50 to 100 shots is all they are going to last until you have to replace the string. They even tell you the price to replace one, about $130-160. In 24 years of hunting with the Supermag, I have replaced my string once, just as a precaution. Finally, although the loading process looks simple, if you mess up one crucial step when you have the xbow fully cocked, and you shoot, you will Blow up the clutch in the cocking mechanism. The salesman also told us there were several in the back waiting for clutch replacements because that happened, so don't tell yourself it can't or won't happen. They teach you, as part of the demo, how to wiggle that clutch handle to ensure it's loose before firing, so you don't destroy it. For me, that was a deal breaker. Was it accurate "out of the box". Yes. Was it cool. Yes. Was it an absolute diva of a hunting tool - absolutely. Definitely not the type of hunting gadget I would recommend. Especially for the money they want for these things.

You got me ❤ I have been looking & shopping for a new Crossbow for sometime now. Momma deer hunts also, so… TRX 515 (X2) with Garmin Xero X1i Crossbow Scope on both of them. Well the cost of our Venison just went up some. Can’t wait to put my hands on one. My only concern is that, I heard a lot of people saying that the string & cables on these fast crossbows wear out quickly.

I'm definitely going for a update my nitro rdx is still going strong but a bit more speed , can let go of the string handle without it busting up your knuckles and it fucking hurts , little things like the pic rail up front to mount my presence switch olight ... I have fallen in love with the reverse limbs and how narrow they are its a win win situation and I'll hunt for 6 -7 years with the 515 and I will love to see what they have condured up .. what ever it is im sure it will be amazing... shooting 800 fps ...

With thus fast of a bow I would high recommend sevr or swat broad heads ten point also has some mechanical heads that will work there nemesis head is made by swat broadheads

It's going to cost me over 5k here in australia but ive had my nitro rdx around 7 years and ive dropped goats and deer out to 100 mtrs if I couldn't get any closer and they were quick clean kills which is what its all about when you are bow hunting so this new 515 is going to be fucking awesome cant wait to get my hands on one , love how its got a pic rail up front so I can mount my olight with pressure switch on it for night time hunting, well done tenpoint when you think things cant get any better they put this on the shelf ...

It looks really great ! I must say I’m very satisfied with my 505!! It has been accurate and problem free. My 505 is actually faster. I’m at 521 fps with a 400 grain arrow. With a 470 grain hunting arrow I’m at 507 fps! I’ve taken numerous deer and not one of them has survived beyond 7 seconds after the hit! I don’t think I can do better! I we won’t be upgrading. No need. The ATRC looks great though

My only issue would be not using mechanical broad heads with this bow. I can guarantee you that the biggest whitetail deer you see on your hunt is going to present you a broadside at 15 yards. And mechanical will blow through to fast to open so you are going to be stuck with a small broad head to hunt with

Tenpoint is leading the game in crossbows but speeds have gotten so fast and w/ so much energy involved that the components are lagging and the 500fps components are wearing and failing exponentially faster than bows in the low/mid 400's.

Regarding the safety. When you're shooting an AR, your actuating the safety on the opposite side of the rifle as in this video. Its unnatural for a right handed shooter to find the safety on the right side (wrong side) of the bow/rifle. Can you reach the safety on the correct side, or do you have to fumble around the wrong side as in this video??? The price is fine.

Here’s a secret. My 505 is faster than the TRX. I’m getting 521 fps with a 400 grain arrow. What that means is that I’m still getting over 500 fps with a 470 grain hunting arrow. I know I got my hands on a fast one, but there are many out there like this. There’s some even faster. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the technology improvements. But I’ve had fantastic luck with my 505! No need to “upgrade”.
