Great video! This was a lot of fun. Two beautifully painted armies, superbly edited video, great effects, and two fantastic players showing great sportsmanship. Hats off to Tak for playing a narrative list--something I've always done throughout the years--and win or lose, makes the game a million times better to play, and thumbs up to Tycho for being a stellar personality throughout the video. At this point in time, warhammer is like the KFC of tabletop gaming, with D&D being the McDonalds. It's a different menu, different food, but it's still fast food and it's still a recognizable name. It's the big player in what they do and you can't deny that. Do any of us actually WANT to shove this fastfood junk down our hungry gullet? Yah, often enough we do. That's why they are the top in their game. It's a guilty pleasure. An easy escape. A fun distraction. A modern temptation. Knock the company as much as you want, but remember that they are big enough that you can try to change things from the inside because the things that make GW a problem are in fact a systemic problem, a cultural problem AND an individual problem. Pick your battles, and have fun otherwise

Well, it's also the first codex, so it could end up being weak if the rest are also immensely powerful, or it could just get nerfed into oblivion

​@@gammothdrawsdepends on how you define "nerfed" I think. The storyline seems to be suggesting more and more than nids and chaos are the big bads here. If GW follows their usual standard with the Warhammer end times and even 40k armies like the tau that they want to push, that means the nids may go through a weak period, but ultimately they will always have more competitive units than other armies. Just a prediction.

@@PlayOnTabletop Well, not to imply anything but it seems like usually Tak brings a more meta army. I am not an expert on this or anything, but it just feels like his lists are usually very carefully crafted to be as potent as possible, especially in the first turn of combat. Seeing him make a narrative list that still seemed to have a lot of punch, even if it wasn't optimal was great, it made the match more exciting and fun to watch knowing how he is viewing the story of the battle unfolding before him. I just personally enjoy the battles that feel like the players are trying to tell a story while playing and not just see who has the better list.

Assimilator with no invuln, and no lone operative just has no play. Lascannons and above will shred him. I think the emissary and choosing the objective for the fnp will be the way to go. Assimilator will be more for fun.

Loved this game. Ultramarine strike force being counter-ambushed the moment they arrive. Finding a very angry lictor couple. Can imagine the captain calling for reinforcement as the first marines of his vanguard are chewed up. Terminators arriving only to be chewed up as well, but pulling away the intended target from her guardians and leaving her open to be assassinated. A last ditch effort - that succeeds! It's a phyrric victory, however. The Ultramarines are no wiser to the real capabilities and threat posed by the Norn Assimilator should there be more out there, they lost many of their brothers, and the Tyranids continue to advance.

Love the Tyranids gameplay, only thing I would love to see from a Nids video in the future is the incorporation of the Harpy/Hive Crone, giving the airborne power they feature a little limelight, could totally make a fun story out of it too with the Hive Crone's anti-air playstyle.
