Unrehearsed family fun jam. First recording of new Viscount Legend. An amazing instrument. Unfortunately not a great (unbalanced) recording. Better recordings to follow.

Love the sound the kids are adorable and I gotta get a chair like that!

Fred, thank you for the comment. I wish you could still buy that chair. I don't remember where I got it because I bought it many many years ago. It's the world's most comfortable organ bench. someday I may try to manufacture it myself and sell it online.

Thank you. This was the day we unboxed the Legend. The kids had a ball with the boxes and I got my first chance to hear the instrument right out of the box.

I used to take drum lessons from TJ, the drummer in the video. He was one of the nicest people I've ever met and was the best teacher. I haven't seen him in years and I am not sure if he is still alive, but I wish to see him again. If I could have one more lesson from him, that would mean everything

Unfortunately TJ passed 3 years ago now of a heart attack. It was quite a shock to all of us and our kids miss him dearly.

Such a joy to watch. The little miss steals the show !!

Thank you Hans. That little miss is now 17 years old and a darn good jazz singer. I hope to get some things uploaded featuring her vocal talents.

Thank you for your comment. I wish TJ, the drummer, was still alive so I could show him your comment. He would have gotten a big kick out of it. We were longtime friends and often worked together for many years. I always teased him him about how old he looked. We were the same age. (Don't ask)

Great vid! Nice to see someone actually kicking bass. And a little nod to A Train.
@MrTreppeda6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mark. You're only utilizing half the instrument when not playing pedals. I love guitar but why hire a guitar player just to play chords? I hope to be able to get more videos up in the near future. I just have not had time to sit down to record.

This was the first Viscount recording right out of the box. I continue to tweak many parameters and it's now sounds darn close to my 1968 B3 running through my two 122RV Leslies. Thank you for the compliment!

great video. 2 questions. Is organ connected to a leslie? andnwhere did you get the stool/chair for organ? tahnks
@MrTreppeda7 жыл бұрын
There is no Leslie. Just a direct output from the organ. That's the most comfortable and most practical organ bench in the world!! Especially if you play pedals because it swivels so it moves with you. My left leg used to kill me after a four or five hour job. Now, it's no problem whatsoever. I bought it used a LONG time ago and have never been able to find another. I hope to start making them myself within the next couple of months and selling them on-line.
@Grapho1377 жыл бұрын
when you do, remember me. have you played xk5, if so, in your opinion which is better? the xk5 or viscount legend, getting ready to make a purchase and not sure which one, but that leslie simulation sounds good on legend
@MrTreppeda7 жыл бұрын
I've not played the XK5 but have a friend who sold his and purchased the Legend. I highly recommend the Legend and suggest talking to Vince at Hammond Organ World. Great advice and unbeatable prices. They handle both. I own and play a '62 A100, '68 B3, Viscount DB5 and the new Viscount KeyB Legend. If you're a die hard B3 player, buy a used B3 or A100. The older the better. Don't let ANYONE try to convince you ANY digital Hammond or clone sounds just like the original. They can't and don't. Besides, no two Hammond organs sound a like and I've played dozens. If you're used to playing an A100 or B3 you'll absolutely love the full Legend (not Live). It's incredibly comfortable to play, You will never be unhappy with the sound and you'll save lots of money over Suzuki's version of the Hammond. Use a good speaker mixer and amp. By the way, if you play bass pedals the Legend is better than my B3. You can output the pedals separately bypassing the Leslie sim and the vibrato/chorus and now you can EQ it independent of the keyboards,

I also bought the Legend - but the slightly smaller Legend Live. And I just want to say that while the rocker switches are replaced with push buttons and there are no preset keys, they have still kept everything in the physical spot it would be on a console - the buttons to select the A and B presets for each manual, for instance, are right where the A and B presets are located on a Hammond. Same for the location of the percussion tabs and C/V tabs. For me the trade off in weight and size was worth it since I'm still moving around on the instrument exactly to where I would on the real thing. And it really does sound (and play) amazing! Best clone I've ever played (and I've played most of them).
@MrTreppeda7 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott. I would expect the Live to sound identical the full Legend but has a LONG time B3 player, I'm absolutely at home on the Legend because of the layout. They are both outstanding instruments. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

The bass is inaudible. Something wrong with the connection of the organ?
@MrTreppeda7 жыл бұрын
Rob, I'm sorry but, this being my first test recording, the bass is low but it's definitely clear and easy to hear if using quality speakers. If using speakers built into a computer, tablet or phone, you won't hear any bass. I've also noticed the vocal is all reverb when listening on a phone. I do apologize and hope to get better quality recordings soon. I really want everyone to hear the full capabilities of this fine instrument. The sound of the "string" bass is actually pretty good.
@robfriedrich28227 жыл бұрын
I have speakers with subwoofer. Seems, you mixed the sound using big speakers, I made also the mistake to forget low mids, so smaller speakers have no bass. I noticed this, when I was listening the mix on a car HiFi. So I suggest, use also small speakers, switch between both, you can notice, when the small speaker has no bass or too much and you can also notice, when the big speaker has too much bass. 90 % of the people doesn't use big HiFi speakers on the system. At the moment, the video let my good speaker system sounds like a tablet PC.

You are a great organist. I really appreciate that you are actually playing bass pedals. Most Jazz organ players just stomp on one pedal and play the bass with their left hand. Is there a sustain on the pedals?
@MrTreppeda2 ай бұрын
Thank you Nicky. I agree with you. If you're not playing bass pedals you're giving up 1/3 of the capabilities of the Hammond organ. The pedals on the Viscount do have a sustain. You also have the ability to run them through a separate output so you can EQ them independent of the organ and bypass any effects such as the Leslie simulation and vibrato. This gives you a pretty clean bass sound.
@nickyfarrell30242 ай бұрын
Thank for responding to my question so quickly. I was planning to buy a Hammond SK 2. But you have convinced me to buy The Viscount. Keep up the good work. Keep on kicking those pedals. I’m so glad that I’ve found you. I will definitely be following you. Many blessings.🙏🏾

You'll absolutely love the Viscount. I still have my B3 with two Leslies but hardy play it any more. I purchased my Viscount from Hammond Organ World. Try them. It's hard to beat their prices and service. BTW....I have no affiliation with them. Thanks again for the nice comments.

Copy of Hammond. Hammond lovers play on Hammond by respect. Not great imagination at Viscount Factory to try making copy of Legendary unrivaled B3 HAMMOND.
