Have 1 a few months now and was initially pissed with the infotainment system but have gotten well used to it , ride is well stiffer than the normal Gti. A bit more special obviously but I honestly think the normal Gti is the king of Vw s as it’s all the car u need. And is across the board more comfy and well rounded

Great work mate! I'd still like this video even if you didn't like the car but I'm glad you do. This video really gets over the magic of the Clubsport especially in comparison to the still very good R which has been hogging the headlines because of its amazing performance on the drag strip. 0-60 in nearly 5 secs was a nice suprise too! The 2 on track would be very interesting indeed, can't wait 🙌

@@JoeAchilles1 It didn't get off to the best start after the dealer had left the transportation chocks attached to the front suspension during PDI. After a somewhat 'firm' 110 miles, it's now resolved and I'm enjoying every moment, only 800 more miles to go until it's run in. I have to say that the CS looks far better in real life than it does in any videos or images.

Great vid, Joe! Demoing a Clubsport next week with a view to replacing my Mk 7.5R with it. I’m also considering the Mk8 R but I like the fact it’ll sit under the £40k even with options and feel it might be more fun to drive. I also prefer the appearance especially the interior trim. Brilliant car!

Hot hatches have come a long way. I had an 1984 XR3i in the 90's and my last car before my Leon Cupra was a Skoda vRS Octavia Diesel that was quicker than the XR3i. Like the old hot hatches are now like warm hatches.

I currently own a Golf 8 1.5L 150PS and I am looking to buy the Clubsport part exchanging it with my own. One key matter needs to be mentioned. The 7 speed DSG changes at the rpm it wants to, even in Sport Mode, unfortunately. However, if you figure out when the gearbox changes gear, you can press the paddle and shift almost simultaneously. Even with the Golf R, the same problem persists. But its completely normal because the computer knows better than you. Great review

For those of you wondering what the cabin noise is like. The DB level at 50-60 kph is about 65-60db and at 100 kph on a motorway the DB level is 80-85db so cruising for an hour is causing you long term hearing damage. The db rating at 50kph with hard acceleration is over 90-100 db so not a quiet refined place to be at all...!

I enjoy your reviews, the honestly and advice for us to spend our money. The VW group interior quality is worrying, they seem to be coming off a high in the previous gen and the number of technical issues with that infotainment is even more worrying. If you are going to be annoyed daily, that will make you leave the brand.

Not that I really care about 0-60 times but only around 1 second slower than the R with FWD is really impressive. Stick a set of Michelin PS4S’s on it and it will probably do 4.8 -4.9 seconds.

Except for the DSG, 19 inch wheels, ridiculous rear wing, the inside hood creases, and the front end styling, I like it. How can you not expect your automatic transmission to shift when it hits redline? Watching this video made me realize that driving on the right isn't as good as driving on the left. It causes the dead pedal to be to the right of the gas pedal.
