Can't wait to try the baitfeeder reels. How much bigger is the 1000 size? If they aren't too much bigger they could double up and make great open water reels as well

Not sure how much bigger. Might want to go to baitshop and compare the too. I do believe they make open water baitfeeders. Then they made these smaller ones for us ice fisherman.

Nice setup! I like the hiviz tip on that rod! Also that Reel feature looks handy for dead stickin’.. how much approx for the reel?

Thanks! Ya the high viz tip is a nice touch. I picked this reel up for 54.99 at Thorne Bros. I have seen them from $45-65.

Hey does the baitfeeder setting go low enough (zero tension) to be able to drop down like 1/4 oz lure without opening the bail, only using baitfeeder switch?

I can test it for you if you want. I bet it does if the rod is slightly angled down in the holder.

Yeah that would be awesome if you could test that out, do a range of different weight lures see what the lightest will drop (if it does). I went to Cabelas to try and look right at them I’m torn between the 500 and 1000 hard to tell how much bigger the overall reel is, would be nice to have the larger spool but putting too big of a reel on a small ice rod it thumps and reels in funky
