I have a 2010 L320 with 116k miles and stumbled upon your channel as I have encountered some similar faults on the RRS. Your videos are excellent - they assume zero knowledge (which appeals to me!) and I love the calm presentation and narration. Who knew how addictive it can be to watch someone repair a vehicle bit by bit? I'm hooked!

Why do I watch so many Range Rover channels on KZbin? I've never owned one, though my brother had a Classic many years ago. I know they are expensive to run and maintain, they break if you look at them, horrible to park up in a city, and an utterly stupid choice for a bloke who lives on his own in the middle of Leeds, commuting around 300 miles to work weekly...but I still find myself wanting one. Anyone else suffering from this illness? Maybe we can form a support group. It's a cry for help. I see myself feeling slightly embarrassed turning up to work in one of these things otherwise, obsessively checking Range Rover forums for the latest fault it has developed. FFS, I enjoy watching a man rejuvenate his Range Rover steering wheel...help me!😩
@heyabusa13 жыл бұрын
I may be developing the same addiction. First it was one Rangie vid a week. Soon it was two but for someone who hasnt got the slightest interest in off roading its all just light hearted viewing. Nothing serious and definitely nothing to worry about. Then I was sneaking off for a quick discreet look at Car Gurus to look at .... Range Rovers. Not to buy but just to look. Before long it was three vids a week but Im ok I am in control. Then, just for a joke, I got an insurance quote........ for a Rangie 5.0 Blower because that makes perfectly reasonable sense for a middle ages single bloke living in the Birmingham urban sprawl who's 2.0litre four door hatchback diesel has had a flat battery three times in as many months because it simply isnt used that much any more. I walk almost everywhere. But, its always wise to consider and plan for all eventualities like the time I will need to go off road at some time in the future. ok its never happened in 30yrs but but it would save me many a sleepless night worrying about that inevitable eventuality if I had a Range. Yes, I am in control of this situation. Thats why I now subscribe to Rangie vids as well........

Hi Sam, Steering wheels that are black and gone shinny, not a refurb kit but just a cleaning product I use on a black leather and gear lever. Autoglym Glass cleaner. It must be in their aerosol can. (It is a bit hard to find as Halfords only have the spray bottle glass liquid. Never use the blue cream one just the can type. And a clean microfibre cloth. I find it works really well as long as nothing is split or not too faded or broken leather. Cheers

Happened upon your rather interesting channel a couple of weeks ago. I had just acquired a 110k mile Navara project and amongst other bits, the steering wheel was quite scruff. Thanks for promoting the refurb kit. After watching your video I thought I would give it a go. Results have been really good, bit time consuming as half the leather is perforated, many broken cocktail sticks later and its looking pretty good. Thank you.

Hi Sam, appreciate your interaction and happy to help your channel analytics. Good luck chap. Just a viewer not a creator myself. But I have a 2010 Disco LR4 And have done many refreshed parts for cosmetic looks. And a few “replaced because well its a Land Rover”. Touch points that wear like the steering wheel make big differences. The best refresh was one I put off for ages and it was a sticking drivers seatbelt retractor! Caught it many times in the door but had a new one fitted and it is like a different car amazing how our senses make you feel comfortable. Sorry it is a bit long but these sort of vehicles get in to your soul and keep you digging in your pocket again and again. Cheers.
@SamsMotors3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Will. Definitely agree re. touch points. I need to sort my seatbelt retractor too as it's a bit lazy. Did you replace it or manage to clean it out and free it up? Cheers, Sam
@willlowbridge3503 жыл бұрын
@@SamsMotors hi Sam, tried cleaning it using a big bulldog clip to keep it out and dry. Replaced it with new belt retractor unit thing. When you open anything in either side sill, tread plate, seat belt area you will be amazed how much dust dirt collects in these covered from view parts. All the best. Best gizmo i got for my disco as its not my daily was a CTEK 40-149 bluetooth battery monitor. It lets you check the state of charge on your battery. Works on an App on your phone. Other life saver was a little ODB plug in code reader for Jag and Land rovers . My Alternator died and cooked my Battery. When I jump started the car it locked out the gear selector. I would have been stranded but was able to plug it in, clear the fault code easily and move car. Cheers

Really nice RR. My first one was a 2011 8 cylinder. I still love the look of the earlier RRs. Your new wheels really brighten the look of the truck.. I don’t know why but the interior in the 2012 and earlier had that beautiful contrasting stitch on the seats and headrests which LR no longer offers. That always added that Jaguar look to the interior which was so nice. Great informative vid.

Thankyou buddy. I agree that the L322 was a real high point and a massive leap forward in car interior design. Even the very early 2002 cars still look incredible inside. The newer models are obviously beautiful too but I think they lack the panache of the L322.

Hello. I’ve got a 61 plate 4.4 TDV8 L322 too. A bugbear of mine is the iphone connection. Running the lead, the CableJive dockStubz Charge Converter and 30-pin Pass Through Adapter for my iPhone 11 and the 30 pin to lightning adapter all stuck together by tape. I’m getting electronic interference sound on my music stored on my iPhone coming through the speakers. Have you come across any CarPlay kits for the L322. Perhaps if you do, please let me know or perhaps do a video on it. One thing I can recommend is flushing the gearbox and changing the oil and doing a powertrain flash. Steering wheel refurb is excellent. Most impressed. Best wishes to you.

Great video series mate, really enjoying it! I’m browsing the classifieds daily to get one of these. The only question for me at this point is TDV8 vs 5.0 SC! The diesel with its truckloads of low end torque makes the most sense but leaning towards the SC as it is a little bonkers. I live just inside London so < Euro 6 diesel is a bit of risk long term.
@SamsMotors3 жыл бұрын
Thank-you! If you're in London and not doing a huge amount of mileage, the 5.0 S/C probably makes a lot of sense. I think being a petrol it avoids the worst emissions charges too, right?
@remizovk3 жыл бұрын
@@SamsMotors Yes you would avoid the ULEZ as it doesn't apply to Petrol Euro 4+ and Diesel Euro 6+. I can see this being a consideration across more of the country as more and more cities implement LEZs in the next few years. For me, the thing that worries me isn't the ULEZ as it is now but I can imagine having to sell a Euro 5 4.4 TDV8 in the next few years if they expand the ULEZ out to the rest of London and would be gutted. Another good reason to move back out into the sticks... From what I've heard from 5.0 S/C owners the MPG can even creep into the low 20s but you probably need to drive like a nun which isn't really the point of the car! The other consideration with a S/C is finding one that has had the timing chain done or factoring that into the price down the line if it hasn't... many more weeks browsing the classifieds ahead! Looking forward to the next chapter - looking even smarter with the new wheels!

@SamsMotors3 жыл бұрын
£15k? Hmm, that's a bit of an awkward budget. It's not quite enough to get into a new shape Sport (L494), but you could get a very late, very low mileage L320 or L322 for that. If it were my money, I think I would spend £10k on a late 3.0 SDV6 L320, or £12-15k on a very late 2012 4.4 TDV8 L322, and I'd probably try and get an Autobiography or Westminster for that money.

Hi , I’m thinking of doing the same to my RRS steering wheel now I’ve seen you do it and the results look great, one question though, did you use a sealer on the wheel after the last coat of leather dye ? Just wondering if it might rub off if you don’t? Thanks
@SamsMotors3 жыл бұрын
Hi, the leather dye supplied with this kit is 'self sealing', so it doesn't need any additional coatings. It seems pretty tough - I gave it a wipe with leather cleaner yesterday to see if any came off, and nothing appeared on the cloth.
