This is the first real world test with some 8-20" red oak. I cycle between one and two engines running while splitting

That is the most impressive log splitter on KZbin that log lift float valve is a nice touch.

Very impressive! That thing eats through wood! I love your idea of the box wedge, really smart how it can be dropped down to transition into a 2 way wedge for the real big stuff

Thanks Jake. I thought you’d appreciate the wedge. As you know it’s a pain to lift off wedge to use single wedge. The cylinder is the exact same as your splitter. I just redid the control levers tonight. I’m getting it out there again this week.

Hi Garny Great solid build. Do you strap and store the rack contents or just dump it out? It seems there would be an opportunity to build an auto stacker on the end of this machine...
@garny3766
@garny3766 3 жыл бұрын
Jeff, most of the time I physically unload either in the woodshed or outside racks. I think I have videos of unloading both physically and dumping off. A few years back I was kicking around the idea of building multiple racks with wheels that would engage into my current rack, fill with wood, drop off and grab another. Never executed. As for auto stacking that’s gonna be me for awhile😆

Very nice Garny! That is one fast splitter! That must be the fastest hydraulic machine I've see on KZbin. I would be personally stressed by the pace of that splitter, being the slow factor in the equation! Lol! What about moving the electric switch of the 2nd engine next to the first one? Would there be any benefit? To see you at 0:30 bend over the wedge with your hands on the control a bit stressful for me... this splitter being so fast! Thanks Garny!
@garny3766
@garny3766 3 жыл бұрын
I agree. Some times when the wood moves through the wedge at full throttle both engines it’s a stand back moment. But that was my thinking about having an operating range from one engine at full throttle then move up to both engines at 1/2-3/4, and finally full speed with both engines wide open. I was kicking that idea around having all engine controls centrally located. One thing with these engines is they like Honda’s are cold blooded. They seem to always need choke to start. But honestly it doesn’t feel dangerous or uncomfortable to lean over, and thinking about it I exert way more energy and “failing” moving large pieces into place where by chance I could activate a hydraulic function be it the push plate or log lift.
@FromSteelToWood

You are right, sometimes, the camera angle will give a perspective of danger where the real situation does not present a real danger. My engine is also cold blooded then! Lol!

@@garny3766 hi there you made 1 heck of a splitter but i don't see a loader around so you would need a lifter . i wish i had one way back . i think i have watched just about every wood splitting video on y/t in hopes of making my fire wood job easier . i have seen thousands of splitters yours is at the top . you are a hydraulic wizard . i have been making wood boxes for 30 years and i think finally have one that works best for me . its funny i told people about the boxes for years and most laughed at me like when i made my first splitter in 72 . then the tote boxes come along and its greater then sliced bread , love to chat from time to time . think about your wood splitting and how to make it faster or easier . you have the best splitter now work on less road work . john

@@publicprofile1 plan accordingly. The longer you make the more leverage will be put upon it. I was just busting up some old dead 24” field edge red oak and with my 6 way wedge all the way up (12”) it was toquring the top 3/4” beam plate. Never bent or broke anything but it wasn’t pretty to watch. I have vertical gussets inside the beam below the wedge knowing this was going to be a stress point.

Noticed the duel hydraulic oil filters, what is the reason for two?
@garny3766
@garny3766 3 жыл бұрын
Blue Ox the tandem filter can handle 120 gpms. I left myself the option to return the dump valve oil thru them if I so choose. My calculated flow out of base port is @110gpms. And nothing wrong with more filtration...Less restriction, more heat dissipation, less bypass when cold. I put 2 on my modified ruggedmade too. Those filters take all return oil.
