Ca mon now. Yamaha kept the banshee around for like ten extra years due to customer demand. Now they build the yxz1000 sxs that so totally fuckin cool. The grizzly and Kodiak are the most reliable bikes on the trail. And they still make the yz85 yz125 yz250 now a new yz250x and holy shit.... a yz65. Yamaha hasnt made a 65 class yz since 1980.....yz60. Yamaha is just very careful not to produce junk like polaris puts out.

Brett Ster I doubt that Honda ever will. Honda has gone the work/utility route for years but Yamaha.... there's still hope for Yamaha and they build a great machine, it's just under powered and can't keep up to Canam or Polaris. Yamaha's are engineered better and are way less prone to breakdowns. Let's face it.... Canam has their heads up their ass when it comes to clutching.
@IXxMcCoyxXl7 жыл бұрын
I hope so. Would regain a lot of business, as well as give them the cool factor they once had. Release a Grizzly r-spec 850 as well as sport-utility model with that X4 grill on a grizzly chassis, hack the plastics and racks back for the sporty look, throw so fox shocks on, and call it a Banshee. Would sell piles of them. If you watch UTVScenes vid on the X4 he speaks to Yamaha's Lead ATV/UTV product planner and says the motor will be in other applications. Just a matter of time.

850 Grizzly for 2019... you build it, I will buy it. I love my current grizzly, but twin cylinder power is so addictive !!
@tythomps7 жыл бұрын
For the sake of those that have really been wanting this, I really hope I'm wrong...but I don’t think this exact 847 twin is ever going into a Grizzly. And I believe so because the specific layout they used doesn’t lend itself to be narrow enough to go below the rider on a Grizzly. I already feel my Grizz 450 is as wide as anyone would want it to be under their feet, with the stator side protruding some over the left floorboard, and the ultramatic primary cover protruding quite a bit over the right floorboard already. Both Can-Am and Arctic Cat (Textron) fit their 1000’s in by going with a V-twin layout, so they are really no wider than a single cylinder 500. And Polaris fit their 1000 twin in by going with a parallel twin, but they kept the cylinders (mostly) upright, and turned the entire engine and CVT 90 degrees so that the CVT is behind the engine. Think of it like an old straight six pickup, sort of. But Yamaha made this twin a parallel twin, so it’s wider than a V-twin. But they kept the CVT to the side, instead of turning it like Polaris. Like I said, I hope they prove me wrong. But if a big twin Grizzly ever comes out, my money is on it using a similar displacement and sharing some of the internal engine parts, but requiring a massive reconfiguration from what they put in the X4 in order to fit it into a Grizzly.

Yamaha MOST definitely needs a large twin. No doubt about it.The 1000cc twins are somewhat extreme for the average guy looking for more power. An 850 twin seems Perfect. Much Much more motor than the 700 single yet not over the top like the 1000s. I know most guys will cry that it should be a 1000 but again the average user will fit into the 850 just right. Thanking you in advance Yamaha.

As long as it doesn't cost us the current, light, 2wd version, hell yeah!
@CourtTony7 жыл бұрын
Empty Chamber556 I'd like to see yamaha produce a Raptor 1000 R as far as 4×4, not so much, just where it's a sport quad for trail and track, with 4×4 weight would become an issue not to mention agility would fall off with that as well. Then you would more than likely see a shaft drive instead of chain with a 4×4. I'm betting that we will see a raptor 850 tho because if they throw that 850cc motor in a grizzly then that would be the next logical step. Kawasaki did 4×4 versions of their 700 and it didn't pay where there is renagades and all the other real 4×4s just different models for different preferences, maybe a wolverine 850 quad with the 4x4 who knows .

There are plenty raptor 700r's out there and they have the yfz450 for a sport quad. I'm just saying they need to freshen up the raptor and 4x4 that could beat up the renegade would be awesome. Maybe they will put that new engine in the grizzly and bore it out and make it a 1000cc for the sport 4x4.

In order for yamaha to stay competitive as a pinnacle brand in the atv world. I don't see them having much choice! Why not take the opportunity to stretch their engineering muscle to design a completely new platform. Something no one has. rustyhd77 perhaps, we consider this engine as the first option because they build it to be compact. We can't say for sure but we're pretty sure that this 850 parallel-twin is a bit smaller. Weight and size matter on an ATV, something all manufacturers aren't paying attention to

Yes finally someone who knows what they're talkin about I believe they would lose customers and because it is a twin it will not be as reliable as a single-cylinder that's my Honda Yamaha and Suzuki only make single cylinders because they are more reliable than the double cylinders and they want to keep the reliability and the cost down

I agree, the Phazer can be clutched down to more ATV friendly RPMs. and the 500 would probably be easier to stuff in an ATV. Not to mention the can be safely turbo'd to 140hp.
@trailblazer6327 жыл бұрын
I dont get it. Yamaha as far as the street bike and motocross scene is always ahead of the game. To date they are the only real competition harley has in the big bore cruiser market. And yet they are lagging in the atv arena. They finally added on a kodiak 450 for next year after being asked for it to return after a couple year hiatus. With the bolt street bike they listened intently to the reviews of customers and quickly updated issues it had. Now that they have a big twin in the lineup again i just cant see them ignoring it. I was kinda disappointed to see them bring back the wolverine name in a mild mannered sidexside. The original wolverine is to this day a nimble light machine perfect for woods riding. The updated 450 with selectable 4wd was a monster at the time. Why not bring a big twin sport 4x4 back to the game? Call it the warrior. Bring back an old name that originally shared motor components with the original wolverines. Then use it to blow canam and polaris out of the water

The 850 looks good on paper however, every cc needs its own share of gas.
