My pops died 11 years ago. This episode was so powerful to me seeing the fun you all had together❤️. It’s so good to see the relationship between Matt and his dad. I’m 60 and never had a relationship with my evil dad. He’s dead and gone. I try to have a relationship with my son and my 4 grandsons. I guess I’ve done right by them. Two of them (ages 16 and 20) have lived with me since birth. Stay the course my friends Pops looks the part of a Pirate! Haha

My dad always thought he was a sailor. He bought a twenty footer called the "Nothing" when we were stationed in Panama with the 8th Special Forces Group. I did learn to love the water. I was lucky to take him on one final trip before he passed. Got to say though. I hope your trip with him is relatively short. Three on a small boat? It will test your sense of humor.

I never comment but I had to say it was cool seeing you and your dad sailing. I found it funny when you mentioned him white knuckle sailing because it kind of reminded of a time a friend gave the helm of an 82 ft Oyster in the BVI. We were flying at 11 knots and needless to say having only had marginal sailing experience on much smaller boats,I was also white knuckled.

Good Morning here we go. Another super fun video. Matt, one day you will grow up and look like your dad. Kristin, your hair is awesome, you are always beautiful. Matt, as you two are going to go on long sail's, It would behoove you(old drill Sgt saying) to carry some spare parts for big red. Water pump, belts and hoses, thermostat and gasket even fuel pump. You just cannot be to careful and parts while expensive in the PR will cost many times more in other countries. God bless you two.

Hey Matt remember you mentioning you don't want a windless for the anchor. Agree way too much work to install and your back is still good.🤔🤔BUT! when those back pains start? You could do what my bud did. He got a Harbor Freight Bad Land bumper wench no cable has synthetic wench rope. He built a handle for the top of it (2 plates each with 3 holes drilled) one for a long bolt & pipe (Handle) and 2 for the housing bolts. The four top sides wench housing bolts is where it bolts to.😎👍👍 How he uses it? He uses a lifting strapped around the bollard temporary to tie off to (NOT) mounted and stores it away till he needs it again. 👉👉And for power he installed 2 Remote Battery Terminal through the deck 8" apart 1" off the front of the cabin to clamp power cables to. ➕➕➕➕Plus this was a WHOLE LOT cheaper not a pain to make and only the power post to install. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐The BIG plus No more full length anchor chain just 20 feet. Tie off the anchor unclip the rope than store the wench and it's not a permanent fixture out on the deck when not anchored. 👉👉Or you could use it to assist in hauling the anchor and chain by hooking the chain every 4 feet as you hold it to rehook.

Glad you get the chance to sail with your Dad.. when I was a teenager Dad and I built a 21 footer and had a great time. Now I am retired and I have a great 10.5 metre centre cockpit yacht but no Dad to share it with. Sadly he and my Mum died far too young. So treasure theses days.

Cherish the moments and create the memories! June will be 5 yrs since my dad passed on, in his last days it was difficult to have much conversation. I was recovering myself from a widow maker heart attack and couldn’t be with him. On my last call with him, as soon as he knew it was me he started speaking clearly and how much he enjoyed our 2 week trip up the coast from Florida to New York in 2008. We ended the conversation with him expressing his love and how proud he was of me and now it’s his time to take a trip to the big blue seas. He passed on a few hours after that call, but the time and memories of us at sea together will always live on! 😢❤ Working to complete a refit on my 43’ trawler and start making some more memories sooner then later, hope to see you in some warm tropical places! 😊
