Nadine, I am a 50 year old female, who is not able to travel because I have Epilepsy. So I am not able so travel as much as I would love too. I have been to the Caribbean, only by cruising. So watching your channel with all the places that you go to makes it like I am there with you. How would you go about to arranging something like that knowing you have something like epilepsy. I know how to do the cruise ship thing, not sure how about going over seas like that

Hi Susan, I read your comment and I'm wondering if your epilepsy is controlled somewhat by medication and also whether your epilepsy affects your ability to get travel insurance (it shouldn't if you are on medication to help control it). My husband and I are from New Zealand and my husband has Meniere's Disease. It's onset came on suddenly, unexpectedly and severely after we had booked and paid for tickets to travel to Australia. My husband is in the bottom 10% of people who are chronic sufferers of the disease and at the height of his illness he was having 3 days of severe vértigo (where he couldn't move his head without vomiting) in a 7 or 8 day cycle. Several longer bouts resulted in him being hospitalized with severe dehydration. He would also have "drops" where, without losing consciousnness and without warning, he would collapse to the ground. I know this is not epilepsy but the reason I am commenting is that when he first became ill we mentioned to his specialist that we would have to cancel our overseas trip and the doctor advised us not to. In effect he told us that my husband's illness should not rule our lives and as long as he was able to get on the plane without being sick at the airport terminals then he should have no problem being allowed to board. He gave my husband some anti-nausea tablets to put under his tongue which work for a short period of time just incase he became nauseous at the terminals. We went on our holiday, were away for 7 days and during that time my husband was ill for 2 days. We made the most of it and got to do everything we had planned to do on the days my husband was well and we had a wonderful time. My husband's Menieres Disease is now mostly controlled by several medications that he takes and the bouts are now far less frequent and severe. This year we are going to the UK for five weeks. All up it is a 22 hour flight (broken by a one night stop-over in LA) and we are doing several coach tours while in Britain Yes, he will probably have bouts of Meniere's Disease while we are away, and he will very likely suffer from motion sickness on the flight and maybe even on the coaches due to his inner ear problems but we will handle it. If you can get travel insurance, and ideally someone who can travel with you, I say go ahead. I hope this helps.

i also reccomend checking out the hamilton gardens in Hamilton because the flowers and gardens are just so pretty and you get a lovely view of the waikato river. they also have little events and activites that change regularly so you wont know what will happen til you get there. also if you do go to the bay of island travel to it a night via a night bus or something because you will prolly go past a little town called kaiwaka and its hard to miss because even though its tiny a majority of the buildings have christmas lights everywhere all year round and you get a lovely little view as you drive past it to your destination. what other places do you suggest for beginner solo travelers because im from nz and want to go somewhere else

You should go to Whitianga New Zealand because it has a awesome beach (Name is Cathedral Cove btw) that has a natural land arc over the sand and you have a small chance of seeing stingrays (Which i did see one) and you could go on a glass bottom boat and look at beautiful fishes and go on a sailboat for 2 or 6 hours and look at whales, penguins and turtles and a small chance of stingrays.

yes most of the time in winter it is unsafe but you need to be very flexable you may have a sunny window :)

I went in September and the hike is snowy but it was still beautiful and breathtaking. They have a guide take you up when the trail is snowy.

Unfortunately on walks like tongariro, there's poo on the paths because people can't hold the need to poo until they get to the toilets. Also because it's so high it doesn't decompose either :/

I spent all of February in New Zealand travelling around and this made me miss it so much! I wanted to do the Tongariro Crossing but the weather was too bad that day which sucked. My favourite things I did was seeing Tane Mahuta in Waipouha forest, scuba-diving in Paihia, skydiving in Abel Tasman, bungy-jumping at the Kawarau bridge and at Nevis, walking on the Franz Josef glacier, I also went on a flight over Milford Sound (and I got to fly the plane!), caving in Waitomo, obvs the Hobbiton set...I basically did everything you mentioned in this video except for Kaikoura because of the earthquake and the Tongariro Crossing because of the weather. If I was forced to live anywhere else in the world except here in Ireland I would definitely pick New Zealand. It was just amazing, I love it so much.

Its very save for solotravel, my sister solotravelled there last year, there are tons of hostels and you can go with buscompanies like stray that are specialised in backpackers Enjoy your stay there, its so beautiful there

I live in NZ. It is safe and i know of many other solo travelers who ended up traveling together via van. Only thing I would advise: be safe on the road. We have lots of traveler car crashes. it's becoming a big problem for NZ. So if you are coming to NZ, please be safe while driving.
